Hello Planet Virtual Boy! I have skimmed your site before, but never taken the dive. Only in the past year did I see my first VB in person, and I was very impressed by how clear the image was for the ten seconds I looked into its red glow 😛

Years ago I came by after seeing the Star Fox graphics demo from 1995, but I never thought to ask if you guys had more info on this demo. I may have seen a video once for it too, but I was wondering mostly if there was more known about it than that which was posted to the main site.

Thanks! And congrats to you all on the recent Faceball developments, that stuff’s awesome! (and if you ever get your hands on SF VB code… let me know! 😉 )

Pretty unrelated question, but what do you think of Red Alarm, it being similar to Star fox a bit, and what do you think of Star Fox Assault? I thought it was pretty damn good, even the on-foot sections.

Yes Blinkstale, have you tried Red Alarm.

Red Alarm doesn’t have as many stages as Star Fox(easy, normal or hard mode), but I feel that it is a much superior game. The wireframe is cooler than the polygons in my opinion, and the sound and presentation are top notch.

Many people said there were no great stand out Virtual Boy games at launch. They should have played Red Alarm.

Hello BlinksTale, welcome to PVB!

The info and imagery you can find on this site (http://www.planetvb.com/modules/games/?t006g) is basically all we know. This was nothing more than a short technical demo for the VB shown at some events that featured 3D-rendered filled polygons in form of a spaceship doing some turns and flying around. From the video we have, you should be able to reconstruct the entire demo sequence in your head.

This demo was simply made to show the VB’s 3D capabilities and was most likely never intended to be made into a full game, nor did it have a name or was in any way related to Starfox. “Starfox Demo” is only the title that was given to it by fans in the early days of VB fansites.

Thank you all! Yes, I have played Red Alarm. I was only able to try it for a few minutes (thanks though, MADE!) and it looked really cool, felt fun to move in, but my impression was that you mostly stopped, changed directions, then kept going to move around. Personally, I find rail shooters a lot more exciting.

So for Star Fox Adventures, which was Zelda + SF Rail Shooting… I really liked it! Probably not a well balanced game overall for it, but hey, I liked it anyways.

Yeah, I have seen the video and screenshot already. Well bummer! And no, I did not expect a full game, but if someone had a ROM of the tech demo, that would still be worth quite a bit to me. I know plenty of people who would love to see something like that on a Virtual Boy emulator (we actually have a GBA ROM of a Star Fox tech demo even!).

Thanks though everyone!
