Hi, I can have virtualboyfreak’s box and manual design printed professionally. It would cost you $15 for the set. If there is enough interest I’ll place an order. Post here if you’re interested in purchasing one and I’ll add you to a list. If I can get over 20 interested I’ll place the order.

The design can be seen here:

Virtualboyfreak’s box design is not suitable for printing. The box construction is incorrect and the graphics are not of a high enough resolution.

I actually own a commercial printing company, which produces boxes *just like this* all the time, so I made my own version of the design and graphics.

It’s freely downloadable here :

and for instructions on putting the box together :

Feel free to use my design if you decide to have it made on a grander scale, but you should wait on the manual. I’m re-doing it, as well.

I was actually thinking about making a die so that I could design and die cut many different VB boxes for other homebrew games.

Could you print the box and manual and sell it for self assembly ?

I would love to get one of those boxes and manuals

If someone was selling boxes and manuals…i’d love to pick one up.

Hi Colesonwilson, I agree with my box having the wrong dimensions. It’s OK if you just print it in 3 parts (sides, front, back & up & low) and stick it to an existing GBA game box (check my collection pics), but it doesn’t work if you want to build a professional box printing only one paper and folding everything. Your design is much better for that 🙂

The problem I found with traditional printers is that the full box doesn’t fit on a standard A4 paper. I think it was missing around 3cm (approx. 1-inch), or at least that’s what I remember when I made it, but it was long time ago. Anyway, your design is just great, good work!

Here in the USA we have a paper size called “Legal” which is about 35.5cm x 21.6cm, so it fits perfectly with blank space around it. 😉

Your box design was the inspiration for mine – if I didn’t have your creative design as a starting point, my design would never have come to be.

I knew about “Legal” paper, but I didn’t know it was 35.5cm! A4 is around 29.5cm (width is more or less the same), so there go the extra cm needed for the box 😛 I’ll try to find some legal paper around to print the box you made. I’m really curious to see how it comes out. Thanks for the heads-up!

this is an interesting project as it would complete the boung high cart i’ve just received. have you guys considered getting KR155E involved? he did make the fb+ box i have and its excellent quality. any thoughts about who will write the manual?

I’m working on one as we speak.

What I was thinking of doing, since I run a print shop, is making the boxes and manuals and then offering the pair up on here for anyone willing to pay the shipping cost.

Just wondering, did the plans go through for this, or is it on hiatus?
I would love to have a box/manual to go with my Bound High cart.

Here’s the box : http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=15219#forumpost15219

… but there are simply not enough hours in the day for me to finish the manual. 🙁

I left the JPEG’s of the manual I made in the “Bound High carts” thread, just in case you want it 😉
