This is super awesome. I don’t seem to be getting any 3D effect though. Does it only work with some games? So far I have only tried it on Mednafen and I haven’t tried it on my FlashBoy yet. Does the 3D effect only work on the FlashBoy for some reason?

Did you try using the 3D depth setting in the menu? It’s turned off by default

I’m obviously a major n00b, but where is the menu to set the 3d depth? I ran the DOS command and got the ROMs with the 3 ROMs I chose in it and I ran this fine in Mednafen but never saw a settings menu anywhere in the process. Am I just lookin right past it?

I’m pretty sure you just have to press one of the triggers while playing a game. It’s been a while since I’ve used the menu..

Thanks @speedyink. It’s the L trigger while playing a game. I tried all the buttons and combinations thereof but on the game selection screen, not after starting the game 😕

This emulator is amazing. I have tested a handful of games and the speed is slow but some are better then others. I am hoping to pull together a list of games which are playable and I will post when I do.

So after reading this whole post it sounds like someone people are testing this on a Virtual Boy via the FlashBoy and other on there computer with an emulator.

I have been using it on my Virtual Boy via the FlashBoy and it works but almost every game runs too slow to play, about half speed. Still it is really cool work and I can’t wait to see how far it goes.

Sorry for the double post, I couldn’t figure out how to edit my last.

The flashboy is the way to go, playing Gameboy games on an actual Virtual Boy is just awesome.

The speed is amazing considering the 20mhz cpu that’s doing the emulating. I would have expected a slideshow, not decent enough speeds to play a game.

Do you have any games you recommend? I have been tried a handful and they really just aren’t playable because of the speed. They look amazing though but Contra for example is just to slow.

Of you could save RPGs would be perfect since they don’t need split second timing. Pokemon works very well. The original mariobland works good too, and zelda works pretty good too. Solar striker and other airplane shooters would probably work pretty good too.

Any recent update on this from MK?

Thank you MK for the emulator! I just played Galaga on my Virtual Boy in 3D. If anyone is a fan of Galaga then do yourself a favor and go check it out. It plays well on the system. I know this thread hasn’t been updated in a while but MK are you still supporting this emulator? (don’t know if there’s much more you can do with it but just wondering if Street Fighter 2 could be made playable(for those of us who weren’t able to get a copy of Hyper Fighting)Hey something is better then nothing. Thanks again MK!!!

was the source ever made available for this?

He released sources in his very first version. That version was still very buggy though. The later improved versions didn’t have any sources anymore.

Damn. Was aspiring to take a crack at save support..

Id like to see this have better compatibility one day as it was really fun to use.

Here is a long overdue update:
– several bug fixes / better compatibility
– better sound
– backup SRAM save support
