Just a heads up for anyone looking for an easy way to play virtual boys on regular monitors!

Their site about the Virtual Tap mod (VGA and RGB)
http://furrtek.free.fr/virtualtap/

Currently asking Furrtek to get myself an order in, if this works it’ll be awesome!

So does anyone have a spare Virtualtap to sell? Something went wrong with my order with Furrtek and I ended up with a refund. Really sucks because he was doing the servo emulator for mine too.

I’m afraid this is unfortunately not available anymore ☹️ Too bad- would be great to own one.

i may have one broken one to sell. to somebody with good knowledge of these things.

Got bad luck and got board where there is shortages between pins in multiple places, (that´s what i think the problem is) and because of that picture looks out of place and partially mess. tried removing few of those but lost my nerve and contacted Furrtek.

Customer service was top notch and Furrtek didn´t even questioned my problem and sen me new working one. (Thanks for that 🙂

So i got this broken one loose around.

i was thinking about 20 euros + postage from Finland, Europe, where i live. isn´t that like half of the original price?

Here is picture of damage ive already done trying to rescue it.
i don´t have magnifying glass big enough or solder tip small enough to do it any better :S

A whole bunch of not good on a VirtualTap!

That looks like there is a short on one of the clock signals (The VB uses 3). I could take a look at it, but I’m not terribly interested in buying the VGA model. I could flash it with the RGB .pof, but I don’t currently have a second VB in need of the VirtualTap, and I’m not interested in getting another one just to mod it. That might change, eventually.

To sum up – I’ll try to fix it, but I don’t want to buy it.

You could always fix it and resell it 😉

i personally have only one VB that already got working Virtualtap so no need for me.

I’ll buy it if you fix it =)

I have two spares, one NTSC and one VGA; haven’t even touched them yet. Shoot me a PM.

All my boards have been offered to people. :3 If I somehow end up with a spare again, I’ll put it in the Marketplace forum.

Is anyone with one of these running it through the Framemeister? Just wondering if anyone has made a framemeister profile yet or any recommendations in doing so. Mine is currently out getting this installed and I can’t wait to get it back.

I run mine through the mini framemeister. I just use FBX’s 4x SNES profile, but that’s really more because that’s what I’m usually playing anyway, and I’m not diehard enough to really dial in “perfect” settings.

Looks like Mobius Strip Tech is making some progress on future Virtual Tap kits!

Per his twitter:

I have samples on order for prototype #VirtualTap kits. Basically trying to make sure the FFC connector and cables are actually correct. #ColecoRGB testing is proceeding. Tweaks will be made accordingly. Hopefully I will be ordering a nice big batch soon. #NoCutMod?

So it looks like these will be happening sooner than later! Good news for those of us who missed out on the furrtek order 🙂

@Mobiusstriptech

After months of waiting, I finally have the test #VirtualTap flex cables. Assuming these test out well, I will be ramping up for the full batch. Of course both VGA and RGB will be available. These will be available for both DIY and install. No ETA on availability yet.

I am still in need for this Chip/Board to replace the Mirrior Unit. Is somebody out there who can make them?

Looks pretty simple – just an ATtiny25 on a small board. I could probably manage it, no problem.

If you want to do a small run, I’d be in for two.

Hold hard, lads. I’m still working with the VirtualCables project! One thing at a time…
