Hello all, does anyone know of an easy way to remove a sticker on top of another sticker? (Like an old video rental sticker on the game’s label) Would be hesitant to just try and peel off the sticker, given the possibility that the label would peel off as well.

Typically one would think goo gone or rubbing alcohol, but as mentioned, there is the worry of the game’s label being damaged.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You’ll definitely damage the label if you use Goo Gone, and you’ll probably damage it if you try peeling off the sticker. They were deliberately designed to be tough to remove.

I’d just leave it on there. It’s part of the cart’s history. No repro is ever going to have a sticker like that on it.

You could try hot air. If you’re careful, you can soften the rental sticker’s adhesive enough to remove it without affecting the label underneath. Even if you do heat the label’s adhesive a bit in that one area, it would all have to be heated to actually remove the label.

Here, check out “un-du”, https://www.un-du.com/How-To.html

I used to use Goo Gone for stickers and the like, and while good, it wasn’t perfect. It has a citrus smell I can’t stand, and it leaves a residue behind.

un-du is a miracle worker, just check out the clips in the link, and you’ll see what I mean.

Yeah, dont use goo gone. Itll runi most cart labels and like mentioned above smells terrible.

Personally, I like the rental stickers. The games are usually cheaper and it shows a bit of the history and reality of the system; that many of the games were simply rented at blockbuster instead of sold in stores as most people didnt want the system after trying it out.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I think I might try and somewhat replicate the situation on an n64 sports title and give the un-du a shot haha

If that doesn’t seem promising then yall are probably right, leave the sticker on!
