Original Post

Hello again Planet VB! MegaSilverX1 here and I’d like to ask the community what are some of your favorite Virtual Boy games. I have two reasons why I ask this; #1 I’m still a new owner of a Virtual Boy and although I can look up reviews of the games on various websites, I’d like to know what games you guys think are worth playing, and #2 with the 10 games I would like to create another blog over on Screwattack to show that even though the console itself may not be liked by all, the games should at least be given a chance to play since I know the Virtual Boy has some stellar games for it. Your list doesn’t have to be in any order and the games can be regular games or homebrew.

So far I’ve created a few Virtual Boy related blogs like reviews of some of the games and showcases with two of the blogs being front paged. I’ll credit the website and you for submitting your favorite games once everything is finished.

Some of my VB blogs:
Virtual Boy: Is it really that bad? http://www.screwattack.com/news/virtual-boy-it-really-bad

Homebrew Virtual Boy Game Showcase: Fishbone http://www.screwattack.com/news/homebrew-virtual-boy-game-showcase-fishbone

Thank you for reading.

It’s kinda been done to death here and other web sites. I’d look around for a lot of options. My opinions…

1-Bound High
2-Space Squash
3-Wario Land
4-Vertical Force
5-Mario Clash
6-Jack Bros
7-Teleroboxer
8-Galatic Pinball
9-Blox/Blox2
10-SD Gundam

My Top 10 Favorite Commercially Released Virtual Boy Games in Alphabetical Order:
3-D Tetris
Galactic Pinball
Jack Bros.
Mario’s Tennis
Panic Bomber
Red Alarm
Space Invaders Virtual Collection
Space Squash
V-Tetris
Virtual Boy Wario Land

I still haven’t played 5 games that I really want(Space Squash, Insmouse, Faceball, 3D Tetris and Nester’s funky Bowling), so I give a top 5 out of the 13 I have.

In no specific order

Wario Land

Red Alarm

Galactic Pinball

Vertical Force

V-Tetris

Honorable Mentions:

Mario Tennis(great pack in)

Bound High!(one of best games on the system, but unreleased)

Vertical Force(awesome sequel to the Star Soldier PC Engine games)

Top five in no particular order:

Bound High!
Virtual Boy Wario Land
Red Alarm
Jack Bros.
Space Squash

Next five in no particular order:
3D Tetris
Vertical Force
Mario’s Tennis
Galactic Pinball
Panic Bomber

Having recently played Bound High for the first time, I would really say that it’s outstanding. Definitely check it out.

Wario’s a great platformer.

Mario Tennis shows the 3D effect really well.

Galactic Pinball has a lot of great content.

Thanks for helping with the blog guys. I almost have it all written out and it should be posted this weekend.

Editor’s Note: Personally, I disagree with this blog post, as my experience with the Virtual Boy (while good for a few chuckles) resulted in a massive headache after only 20 minutes of play. But even though I disagree, I still found this to be an enjoyable read…but I’ll say that the 3DS’ 3D effect is far superior. 😛

Who’s the jackass who did your editing? I think it’s been well-established by now that anyone who gets a headache from Virtual Boy doesn’t know how to use the IPD and Focus controls.

It’s just his opinion.

I find playing the Virtual Boy in the dark, with the automatic pause feature on, and playing with the IPD and Focus to reduce any chance of getting a headache.

It’s not really the editor’s place to be commenting on an article. That’s what the Comments section is for. |-:
