Hey guys,

With the success of InsEdit, I think that Faceball should have a level editor too. 14 levels isn’t a lot for a fun FPS πŸ™‚

I have no experience in rom-hacking, but many people have made their own hacks of Doom. Faceball seems somewhat similar to Doom, actually, and should be way easier to modify. You can move with a map on, lots of cool enemies, easy game mechanics, etc.

Think about it, even if no one can make any new level designs, we have the awesome Gameboy and SNES versions, which both have 75 unique levels EACH! And all are different! Not to count the PC Engine Super CD version, and even the Original MIDI maze!

Maybe these new levels could make up the 56 levels of the Virtual Boy one, and add more, or make an entirely new homebrew game!

Let’s make this an opportunity to take the unfinished Virtual Boy release, and make it something really special.

And keep the debug menu, of course. πŸ˜‰

Heck yeah! I don’t know how much work it would take, but it would be really cool to be able to expand the game.

It’s called “InsmEdit”, not “InsEdit”. And success? There’s only been one patch released so far. Go make some more! πŸ™‚

I might have a go at hacking Faceball when it’s released, but wouldn’t that piss off everyone who bought a cartridge? Then there’s also the issue of DanB’s Ballface. His effort shouldn’t be dismissed.

I sure hope that people who buy a cartridge of Faceball won’t get upset if later alterations are made to the game. I would LOVE later alterations to be made to the game!

Hopefully, everyone who buys a cartridge of Faceball from Eric will understand that they are getting a copy of the original ROM before everyone else, they are getting a very nice and attractive collectible product to go along with their ROM, and they are showing their support to those of the VB community who make large sacrifices to get the unreleased games released, which will hopefully encourage those people to continue to make sacrifices to get even more unreleased games released in the future.

But yeah… I hope you have a go at hacking Faceball when it’s released. I also hope DanB turns Ballface into a full sequel to VB Faceball or something.
