Has anyone made one? I ask because I run an upholstery shop and was thinking I could design and make a fairly comfortable and strudy head strap. The only problem I can imagine running into would be the visor.

My question is Has anyone already made one and if not would anyone even be interested in one?

Nobody has built a decent one, they are all either to expensive or to ugly. I am interested in a strap if it looks good and is priced reasonably. πŸ™‚

Have you been to the Workshop? I would love to have a professionally-made VB head mounting solution. What kind of a price-point are we looking at? If you put it on Kickstarter (etc.) could you bring the price down any by, say, buying in bulk?

I’d be interested too. I’m with Dreammary, I’d also prefer a nice looking one. I would SO rock it in town. Well, at least one time anyway.

It has to look cool, or what was the point? I will likely try playing it in public.

So I know I could make it look professional as we do interiors for 100 thousand dollar cars our work has to be beyond perfect.

My main concern is if a head strap would be enough or if you would need some sort of shoulder support. Also I dont know if the foam visor would be sturdy enough to not just collapse on your face.

I will post in the workshop. I already have a pretty good idea of how I could make it work I just dont know if the unit would be too heavy to support it with just your neck.

I’m so excited to see this come through, and it would be so amazing to actually have a proper headstrap. If this turns out to be amazing I’m sure many of us will be interested in owning one. πŸ™‚

I also think that if just a strap is being used, as opposed to a heavy-duty helmet, it might be too much strain on the neck. I would be very curious to see what a professional-looking head strap that also uses shoulder support would look like.

I don’t think the stock visor is sturdy enough either. Either a new, stiffer replacement would need to be attached, or maybe there’s a way to strengthen the regular one. Possibly something that fits “over” (around?) it, if that makes sense.

I’m hoping that, as well as the strap that hugs the lower back of the head, would be enough to support it.

I would be interested in one as long as it’s of professional quality. Would love to see your ideas.

I would most certainly use my VB more if I was able to have it attached to my head and be free from a table. πŸ™‚

So basically what im thinking is a form fitting wrap for the actual vb unit with gaps at the top and bottom. Basically it would leave access to the adjustments on the top as well as the game slot. I would also obviously cut access holes for the controller plug in and so on.

Then it would have a strap on each side of the unit cover as well as one in the center that would go over your head. Im not sure if i would do an elastic strap or an adjustable plastic strap.

The idea of shoulder supports gets tricky since every person is different. I could make a shoulder support that would fit me great but what fits me might not fix the next guy.

Here is a reeeeeeally quick photoshop to kind of give you an idea. The red blocks just show where the placement of the straps would be.

Oh wow! That’s a solid design and I fully support it. What will the price point be?
The straps would need to be adjustable as the VB is heavy and elastic would just stretch out of shape. I also recommend the strapd be padded a bit.

we wouldnt be using actual elastic, we would be using something similar to perelli webbing with a cover over it.

They are straps with elastic fibers woven into them.

Fascinating, but I still am curious about the pricing range?

Way too early to tell a price. I will have to make one first and see how much I have into materials and labor before I could even guess.

Okay, that’s understandable; but please keep in mind people won’t be willing to pay very much as this is a niche item.

I’d guess $60 would be a good estimate of what people would fork over for such an item.

Im hoping it would be under that price. The most expensive pc will be the strap as the webbing material is fairly pricey.

That is excellent news! I am growing ever more excited about this project!

Im going to try and work on a demo over this week. Should have a functional prototype by the weekend.

Awesome! I am excited to see the prototype and I’m sure many other people are as well. πŸ™‚
