So a few weeks ago I hand wrote a letter, took some pictures with my Gameboy Camera of some Virtual Boy stuff, and sent it to Nintendo.

While it is sort of a generic response, it was really nice to receive a letter back. It was especially cool of them to mention those two games specifically.

I love it. Despite it being a bit generic and scriptted, there was atleast a little bit of love written in it

Somebody definitely wrote that by hand. They’re definitely following a model of how the company wants perspective letters to sound. But I feel as though that specific letter was written by hand.

That’s actually pretty darn cool but sadly Nintendo doesn’t even include the VB on their timeline.

I’m curious to know though…what did they end up giving you for swag items?

maybe if every one wrote nintendo on this forum maybe nintendo would do something about it.

Remove that part about the “enhanced wide screen” and I’d say it should be trivial for them to create a Virtual Boy emulator for 3DS to bring Virtual Boy games to Virtual Console. But the technical side is not the problem, anyway – it’s simply an economical question, and I am afraid no one at Nintendo is seeing a high enough market of potential buyers for VB games on VC. On top, I guess Nintendo isn’t too keen on re-releasing games from a system they’d prefer to have never existed.

Our best bet for seeing full-color remakes of Virtual Boy games is doing it ourselves. See Super Mario Clash 3D.

For Nintendo the VB was a failure. I do not think they will release something VB related. If they do, it would be a huge surprise.
Okay they never ignored the VB completely. In some games like Super Smash Bros, Animal Crossing or MiiTomo you get 3D models of the VB. But I doubt they touch the games.
Nintendo directly released only like 8 games. The rest was released by other publishers.
On top of that they see it as a failed system, they probably don’t see any reason to write a emulator for just 8 games.
The remaining games would require extra licencing and stuff.
I guess they just don’t want to divert any workforce to such a task, otherwise they would have done it already. Afterall the 3DS is the perfect system to (re)present the games with much better playability.
Like Krisse said, the only way we see it on a 3DS we neede to do it ourself. That is also why I pushed so hard for a VB emulator.

Like LK said someone definitely wrote it by hand, following some guidelines. It was pretty specific to the letter I wrote. I’m happy it wasn’t just a canned response 🙂

I’m definitely keeping this, I didn’t really expect them to write back so it was awesome to see in the mail. Nothing crazy, just some Nintendo themed book marks. Still nice of them though.

While I agree that it’s a long shot, I figured why not, it’s not hard to write a letter.
To me this would be one of their fan service products. I think over the years they’ve realized that there are quite a few people out there that like the VB still. Why else start mentioning it in random things(remember “all hail the Virtual Boy”?)
I realize that they can’t release all the games, I said in the letter even just the ones they have/can get rights to would be awesome, which does indeed include Wario Land, the one that would sell the most to the general public.

I still fully support the homebrew emulator project Guy is working on (otherwise I wouldn’t be a patron for it), but like I said, it doesn’t hurt putting the bug in Nintendo’s ear for an official (even if more limited) product.

true but like i said if we all wrote nintendo they would see people might still be intrested in the VB. i mean heck theres a whole forum dedicated to this console. i get tons of people want their consoles fixed on nintendoage ebay and here. so i think nintendo is making a mistake not putting the VB in the shop.

but yeah a full color remake would likly have to be made by some one here as homebrew. course knowing nintendo they will kill the project as soon as it gets released.

Nes Freak, that’s because basically every Virtual Boy is at the point where it needs to have the permanent repair done. Both of my VBs needed to be repaired within days of playing, as that glue is super old. Anyone that owns/wants to sell their VB will get more profit/use out of a fully functioning VB.

I’m with Nes Freak, I think more people have been warming up to the VB in recent years. I’ve had a few people in other game communities start to ask me about the VB and how much and all that, and even traded one of mine to someone for something.

The price of VB stuff has gone up, not down, which seems to give the impression the demand is there.

Also I’m still rocking an unsoldered VB. Will get it done eventually, but for now, no issues whatsoever.

Oh believe me, I know how much collecting prices have skyrocketed. I bought my first complete in box VB with 5 games (all with manuals) for $110.

I’m curious, speedyink, what swag did they enclose?

I used to enjoy writing letters to Nintendo at Nintendo Power as a kid. Nice to see they maintain that level of customer service.

I absolutely agree with you. Personally I wasn’t born when the VB came out, and I live somewhere the VB wasn’t released (even if I heard about some VB sold in Swiss with exclusive booklet), however I love the VB, searching for new things, playing the games, I think it’s such a great system 🙂

I personally think that putting VB games on the virtual console could be a great idea.
