Just to clarify a couple of things.

Richard himself was the first person to post of the fact that Bound High was on Ebay.

Also, one doesn’t have to visit Ebay to know that Bound High has been posted there. All one has to do is save “Virtual Boy Bound High” as a search in one’s Ebay account and Ebay will send an e-mail if any item with such description comes up.

My point was I’ve checked before for it and I’m sure everyone of us has. We all wanted to be the one to find it first at what cost? I am aware you can have ebay email when these things come up, but I’ve looked randomly when I’m om Ebay, I’m sure I’m not the only one that wasted time searching for it. If Richard didn’t post it first, which I was aware of btw. One of us would have wanted to be the first. I was just trying to convey how quickly we would turn on each other like 83skillz did all of us. I was being facetious. Even when I said, dont he know we have nothing better to do than sit at home search for it and expose him for selling it, I was being sarcastic. Sorry if that didn’t come across over the internet. We are in a weird way a Virtual Boy family. We should all try not to be like 83Skillz. He stabbed us in the back.

i never searched for it. i found out about it when someone asked me if it was something rare. when i saw it i was upset but not shocked. we all knew it would happen. i don’t hate the guy who sold it. i do feel he did not stop to consider how this might impact the close-nit VB community. he has disrespected richard’s wishes and damaged the future of prototype/patched/translated/rare reproduction carts. not to mention 1-off builds of battery supported games that would have featured a cage instead of solder points. it sucks, it really does, the guy is a complete jerk for doing what he did, but i don’t hate him.

So after hunting for a few weeks, I finally found some auctions that excite me. Games I didn’t expect to add to my collection:

I don’t know, the item description does not give any clues. But since the article is form February 1995, I’d say either a report from Shoshinkai 1995 or an early feature article. In any case, the chance of it containing prototype photos and screenshots is very high. 🙂

First of all, there must be something wrong with my browser because it says that seller wants over $2,200 USD for that Japanese mosaic. Secondly, look at you scouring the global interwebs for VB items. That’s what I call commitment! 🙂

Ran out of edit time….

I don’t know how long that copy of SD Gundam has been up for sale, but it’s still on the upper end of the market rate for that title. It also looks to be in pretty good shape.

I guess I’ve just been spoiled over the past few months from the Japanese auction sites?

Hey Dor-Si,

That seller, Tokyo Toy Factory, has actually been selling minty mint copies of SD Gundam Dimension War for quite some time. I believe this is either the 5th or 6th copy that I have seen them list on Ebay. The first copies started out at lower starting prices, and the more that each copy sits on Ebay without being sold, the more that the price for that particular copy drops over time. Then, when a listed copy sells, they list a new minty mint copy at a higher starting price than the previous copy, and its price will drop slowly over time if there are no buyers.

My guess is that this store actually has an original factory box of SD Gundam Dimension War games (a real gold mine these days), and they just keep selling one copy from it at a time. It makes sense that this store would have one or more of these factory boxes since they are a very large toy store located right in Tokyo and would have been a primary buyer of Virtual Boy games back when they originally hit the market. One never knows when Tokyo Toy Factory will list their last copy of SD Gundam, though. This one could very well be the last one, or there could be several more yet to come.

If they do have a factory box of these, maybe they will be willing to sell it to someone once the last copy goes from it, or maybe they’d be willing to sell the factory box now.

What is a Mosaic worth anyways? I don’t think I’m willing to pay that much, especially since the box is far from mint, but I have no data to even make an offer. Can anyone enlighten me?

I’ve seen a few mosaic box units sell in the $300.00 to $600.00 range in the year and a half that I have been keeping track of the market. That is just for the mosaic box unit.

The black stand that comes with it is even harder to find. I think the most recent one sold for $200.00 to $300.00, and I remember some seller trying to sell one for $800.00 but I don’t think he was ever successful.

I appreciate the data. My estimates seem to be on par with that….(I’m kinda worried that I can estimate that well on my first look).

I am hereby announcing my candidacy for a new home for said Mosaic and Stand.

I actually have a good feeling that if the seller is offered an amount equal to half of what he is asking, he’ll probably accept it since he’d still be making a profit on the sale. If he doesn’t accept an amount for half, then it is definitely not worth the effort.

Hrms..did that auction stand actually have the portion that holds the controller up ?..just want to make sure before someone makes a big offer for it.

Now that I read the seller’s description, I noticed that also the system doesn’t come with an instruction manual and the seller admits that, so those looking for a complete Mosaic unit would really want to stay away from this auction, regardless of how nice of condition everything else is in. My Mosaic unit came with an instruction manual that has the same serial number on it as the system itself, and as far as I can tell, this serial number on the instruction manual is original, not added later by some seller. Can another Mosaic-system-with-manual owner verify that the manual should come with an original serial number on it that matches that of the system?
