I recently dug out my virtualboy, and have found that one of the displays is glitchy. I played around with it a bit, and tried the oven method to repair it, but haven’t had much luck. I’ve not noticed the oven method doing much of anything, maybe I’m not leaving it in enough, but I’ve tried it 3 times and left it in a few minutes each time. Anyways, it seems that at times it will work briefly, but then start glitching. Sometimes tapping the part gets the display to work again, but not consistently. Perhaps it needs soldering? But that is beyond my capabilities, I’m likely to destroy the thing if I attempt that.

Is there anyone I can send this to for restoration?

Where do you live? I repair them myself and am located in Europe, if you are located in Canada or the USA, I would recommend to contact HP LoveThrash

I’m in the US. I sent HP a PM last weekend, but haven’t heard back yet, hopefully I’ll hear something soon.

Just wanted to say that HP recently repaired my VB display cables. They were in rough shape beforehand, and now the displays work perfectly! In our emails back and forth, it sounded like he’s been busy lately. That might be why he hasn’t responded to you yet, but I can definitely vouch for his work.

Thanks for the kind words! And yes, I have been very flighty lately due to my real job and also working on a cross country move…but I’m around again now, so feel free to email me about repairs (or email again for those that I’ve overlooked). HPLovethrash at Gmail com.
