If this is to be believed… I also had to check the date.
Vintex64 are now saying they are in the production pipeline for Dragon Hopper, it does sound promising.
Could this really be true?
I don’t remember seeing anything on the forum here about it, and I don’t want to get my hopes up unnecessarily, but I thought it was worth discussing.
I find it hard to believe a finished or even partially playable build would have been located and not in the hands of one of our collectors here.

They now even have a specific PCB layout for the upcoming releases, in this case for Zero Racers (although the “s” is missing).

I’m still hopeful and super excited for this, even if morale lowers by the day… I just wanna play some more VB games!
Even tho this thread is about Dragon Hopper, the talks at the end about Elevated Speed and Zero Racers, one or both of those are to be completed and finished and released by Vintex later this year?
Elevated Speed is a project from PizzaRollsRoyce and has nothing to do with Vintex.
Zero Racers on the other hand shall be released by Vintex this year, yes. At least this is what they say.

Hoping! Bound High was unreleased and better than most of the released ones so maybe these could be really good.
Just read the whole tread. Love to see all three mentioned games released. I do think that they are doing some extensive work; they wouldn’t if there was no reason to.. I guess we’ll have to wait a bit more. After 30+ years what’s another year?
/edit:
I noticed this on Vintex64 site:
Save Type
SRAM (Cage Battery)
nvSRAM (Flash Chip)
So, I guess there is a save feature that needs to be embedded. If I select the nvSRAM option it’s 103$

I know I’m late to the game on this, but all things given can vintex be trusted this isn’t just more words yet again? They’ve claimed off and on for years they’d do something, and often something was code for some vapor thing.
Hmm. Years you say? Can you recall the earliest year you remember this website bringing these “leads” up? I completely forgot to say in one of my last replies that the first email I got from them was in mid October of 2023. Nearly a concerning 2 years now which isn’t giving me much hope. That and we’re well into 2025 now, haha.
I asked Vintex again. They claim that they will get the ROM in 1 or 2 months.
I really hope that this is true.

9/9/2023 is when I first saw the listings. I’ve been quietly waiting since but to be honest my hopes aren’t high. If the person who supposedly has the prototypes truly wants to build up an inventory of repros then that’s fine by me, but given the circumstances I can’t help but feel this is kind of shady. I know Vintex is a trusted source but I do wonder if they’re being duped. Would love to be proven wrong but I’m admittedly quite skeptical since it’s been so long.
Yah, this is a sad joke. If they really had access to one of the most sought after VB items in history, they would be building hype with actual proof. “Building inventory” is the weirdest excuse for delays that will end in nothing I’ve ever heard.
If they were somehow worried about Nintendo or Intelligent Systems by revealing too early, it’s the same thing if they waited to sell this “built up inventory”, the same worry would exist when they attempted to try and sell.
Sad to say, there is nothing here.
Well, given that they intend to release that as a paid product and considering that this is unreleased Nintendo material, it would be very unwise to hype to early. Now that Nintendo has own VB plans, this could backfire fast.
@abarth
It’s been between 1 and 2 months since you’ve got news from vintex 64. Did they share new informations with you? Did they tell if they still plan a release window for late 2025?
@norty:
I have asked them last week, they told me: “… getting close to the big day. The final bulk of PCBs came last week.”
They start building as soon as they can.
So nothing really new here 🙁 Don´t know if they have the ROMs (Dragon Hopper and Zero Racers) already but I doubt it.
Honestly, I’m in the “cautiously optimistic” camp too. The whole situation feels a bit déjà-vu, but at least there’s more discussion happening again. I found a breakdown of the recent rumors here — donosno.si/dragon-hopper-rumors-spark-new-excitement-but-is-a-real-release-finally-coming/
— and it echoes what many of you are saying: until there’s concrete proof, it’s hard to take anything as more than hopeful speculation. Still, it would be amazing if even a small part of this turned out to be legit. Fingers crossed, but keeping expectations reasonable.
now this is the news thats fit to print 😀
custom Virtual Boy PCBs in 2025? crazy awesome! I wonder where they are sourcing those funky connectors?
According to my newest mail from them they plan to open orders and shipping from January on (for both Dragon Hopper and Zero Racers).
That really doesn’t mean much. Even if they do open orders (and we have no reason to believe that they will), my roommate ordered a copy of Mighty Number 9 and never got it.
I would not expect honesty from someone who sells other people’s homebrews.
They don’t have to be dishonest for this to come to nothing. They could sincerely believe they’re getting the ROMs and then just… not get the ROMs. I don’t think anyone involved has seen any proof that the seller actually has the ROMs.
