So I’ve been gone for a while!
A lot of homebrews have been made since my last Virtual Boy Homebrew Showcase video… but since I don’t have the same camera anymore and the newer one can’t seem to record VB properly I’m not saying I’m doing another video but I was just wondering how it’s going nowadays? Are most games announced still mostly demos that stay demos?
Well, out of the box I can tell you:
– Test Chamber (amazing!) and complete
– Dragon Chopper: really good, one short demo stage
– Virtual Picross: really good, complete
– Pong: since it is by me, I´d say “okay” and fairly complete, with one working multiplayer and four singleplayer stages
– A Wireframe Scenery: again by me, I´d say quite good, complete except for background music in the main game. Propably 10 mins playtime.
– Virtual Vibes: really good, but no public release yet.
I sure miss something right now, but other members can tell you more I am sure 😉
Protoman85, great to see you! I’ve watched all your VB-related content on Youtube several times. I commented on your Faceball video on YouTube to see if you’d have any interest in doing some reviews of the newest VB developments. It’s a shame that your camera can’t capture VB footage anymore. If you’ve got a 3DS capture card, there’s been a new development that allows full 3D play on that system. It’s an emulator called Red Viper, and it works great.
Virtual League Baseball 2 isn’t a homebrew, but is a fully licensed and unreleased game that some people crowdfunded in order to bring to the community. That will be available September 21st of this year. Abarth mentioned a lot of great picks in his comment, but there are several others you should also look into. In particular, the public Formula V demo, the Elevated Speed demo, and the fully completed Virtual WarZone (an Atari Battlezone clone) are all excellent. Formula V is still actively being worked on and will get a release someday.
