Original Post

We are still two days away from the release date set for the Virtual League Baseball 2 ROM we have aquired. However, the team thought it would be a cool surprise to release a bit early to give everybody the chance to try out the game over the weekend. So here we go!

If you have missed the story so far, check out this post. Up to this point, through donations, we have made back about 16% of the money we spent on aquiring the ROM – thank you so much for everybody’s support! If you enjoy the game and have a few extra bucks on your hands, please consider donating, we’ll keep them open for a little longer.

In addition to the ROM itself, with the help of thunderstruck, we prepared both save files and patches to change the game’s “custom” team into a maxed-out unbeatable All-Star ensemble, featuring the names of our little team as well as other Virtual Boy scene legends. The Virtual League Baseball 2 game page will shortly be updated with download links for those.

Without further ado, here’s the ROM. Enjoy!

Awesome news and a great surprise! Thanks to everyone that made this happen!

Here are some HyperFlash/HyperBoy labels I made for it.

I’ll be throwing some more money at the fund – disheartening to hear only 16% has been financially recouped.

Hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did!

Thank you very much! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Thank you to everybody involved in the ROM release! I will give it a try 😀

That is a shame that so little was funded. I’ve been on/off the site for awhile sometimes just not logging in but saw this mentioned at one point. It’s nice to see it’s out there now at least, but a bit tragic that it was not funded to cover the losses of picking this illicit gem up.

I wonder, will anyone be getting into perhaps doing like with Bound High making a ‘legit’ copy of the game? Like that one I’d prefer to make a physical keeper of it.

This is a very nice thing that was done for this community. Cheers and thank you for your efforts.

Built my own reprocard today 🙂

Guys, you’re all amazing and I can’t thank you all enough for bringing this to us all and adding some personal touches to it! <3

Thank you very much.
I’m thoroughly enjoying myself.
I regret that I’m currently struggling financially and unable to make a donation…

We hope your situation improves soon! Also, really cool to see a former Virtual Boy game programmer still around here with us ^_^

MegumiAyase, thanks for joining us here on Planet Virtual Boy! I hope you had some fun playing Virtual League Baseball 2.

Just so everyone is aware, I spent the last week or so writing a guide for VLB2. I had a lot of requests for help on Discord, and to my knowledge I’m the only person who has beat the game. Go to the game’s page and click Guides to find it. It’s in the process of being accepted and published over on GameFAQs, too.

MegumiAyase, that is 100% ok, don’t worry about it! Kind words totally works too 🙂

Welcome to our nice little community 🙂

I haven’t won a single game yet, but I’m still playing Virtual League Baseball 2.
Thanks for the kind messages from community members.

Welcome MegumiAyase! Super cool having a VB legend here on the forum! It’s true Virtual Lab was programmed in a week? Absolutely incredible.

Hello, PVB!

We’d like to thank everyone for their support, kind words, and all positive sentiment that’s been out there since the release of the ROM. Special thanks to everyone who’s made a video, written an article, etc. about VLB2.

All the positive publicity has brought about another wave of financial support. I’d like to share with everyone that we’ve now collected 31% of the total cost of the ROM through donations – nearly doubling the amount we’d received at the time of the ROM release! Every bit helps – we never expected to receive as much as we have.

The donation drive for the VLB2 team will continue until November 10th. After that date, I encourage anyone who wishes to donate in support of Planet Virtual Boy to do so here on the main site, at https://www.virtual-boy.com/donations/.

To all those who donated to the VLB2 fundraiser and everyone who’s played Virtual League Baseball 2, thank you so much!

That is great news! Thanks for sharing.

Only heard now about it, donated immediately. Even though I am not planning to play it soon.
Thank you for your work!

The last day of the Virtual League Baseball 2 donation drive was November 10th.

We’re excited to share that the donations totaled about 35% of the cost we spent on acquiring the ROM. The financial support means a lot to us. We recouped much more than we expected. I’m shocked that more than half of our donations came after the ROM was released – and with nothing physical for the group to give backers. It’s been a privilege to be able to contribute to the VB community in this way, and it shows just how much some money can make a difference.

Unfortunately, the best projects for our beloved Virtual Boy community usually aren’t free. If you are in a position to be able to financially support efforts of this community, you can always donate directly to the Planet Virtual Boy site. Alternatively, backing development teams on Patreon, purchasing fan-made VB hardware/software, etc. all makes a big difference to the people who spend a lot of their free time making the VB space so engaging.

I’m crossing my fingers hoping for more good VB news on the horizon! Thanks again, PVB.

Don’t thanks us. Thank you!
