Howdy,
I think since the collections page goes as far as including Japanese Demo AC adaptor taps, why not include the rare but common-enough Wario and Red Alarm Demo carts (loose only), the 4 Japanese Sample carts, and the Mexican USA-carts with Spanish instructions (instruction sheet and the locale sticker on shrinkwrap being unique)? It would also be cool to add the generation 1 and generation 2 Flashboy carts under the hardware section. Ooh, and those Display units and Light-Up VB store signs too.

So many things are always added under “other” or MISC. Pogs, Nintendo power trading cards, cardboard 3D glasses, E3 promo sunglasses. If we can collect demo JP AC adaptor Tap freakin Manuals, surely this other stuff is worth noting under collections.

I just think MISC should be for weird mags and stuff, and store dispay cards. What do you guys think?

I’m not there yet, but with so little out there and such things known, I think the collectors really look forward to making that check in the box on the collector page.

Well, the directive for me was to only include only officially released, commercial products related to the Virtual Boy. Here and there I stretched the border a bit by including the demo taps for example, but the border had to be set somewhere. If I started to include everything that’s out there, there would be no end. 🙁 So I choose to simply add the “Other” boxes.

BTW, nice collection, RidingHero! Would you mind sharing scans of the mexican games? I have been looking for those for a while.

I bought my 3 boxed USA games (Teleroboxer, Mario Clash, VB Wario Land) from a mexican seller in eBay. The boxes and carts seem to be the same as in standard USA games, but in addition to the usual content, they have a printed paper sheet with shortened game instructions and warranty specifications in spanish for mexican buyers. I don’t know if it is that RidingHero says. I’ve submitted a scan of this sheet (from Teleroboxer) as if that were interesting.

I also just updated my collection page with a new full picture of all my Virtual Boy stuff.

I’m not there yet, but with so little out there and such things known, I think the collectors really look forward to making that check in the box on the collector page.

I love being able to hit check boxes. I agree there should be more.

I agree with the directive. In fact I think you should dial it back to commercial releases only, lose the demo items.

However, having said that, I think it would be steller to have 2 collection lists “Commercial released items” and “Official Virtual Boy items”. Then on the user page, have the comparative collections be by Commercial, and tie breakers decided by Official. That would give us all a lot of check marks to work with (which I love to do), and also show the scope of Ben’s collection :).

Or as an alternative, perhaps there is a way we could make custom checklists. I have my own spreadsheet I use with a massive list of items I want/have/exist and it would be sweet if instead I could come to this site to do it. Plus then it could be shared.
