Japan voltage is 100, USA voltage is 117. depending on the item, it may or may not require a step down converter to use a Japanese product on 117v. Some things work fine, other things have issues. My Japanese arcade machines get faint wavy lines on the screen if a step down isn’t used. Old optical based consoles such as Japanese PS1/Dreamcast have also been noted to sometimes have some issues without the use of a step down converter.
It’s worth noting, I have had no issues at all running a Japanese VB on 117v. If it’s an expensive or rare Demo Unit, no reason to not fork out a couple of bucks for a step down transformer for your own peace of mind and insurance.
There should be no reason for the VB to need any stepdown for a JP adapter to work in the US. Even if the output voltage from the adapter is a little high, the VB has a switching regulator inside which is rated for 6V to 13V.
I think Akumie is asking about using it on 230V though… in that case, I’d get a JP tap, which has a standard connector, then get a standard 9V adapter with the same connector.
no no, I am asking if I buy a vb ac adapter made for usa consumers do I need a specific converter to play it here in Sweden (Europe) or does any converter do find?

The adapter itself wouldn’t need a converter, but the AC adapter would need a stepdown converter. And no, that auction does not include the AC adapter, though any (US) SNES one will work with that adapter.
so a converter that just converts from usa to europe is ok or is stepdown converter a specific converter?
Well i live in Europe so finding a cheap snes cable from usa will not be easy if I also have to buy the converter and AS adapter, meh

If you can just find an 850mA+ universal adapter that has the same plug size as an SNES, just get one that can output DC 10v with a negative center polarity/tip.

That’s what I was suggesting, except if he uses a JP tap, then he can use a universal adapter with a normal tip (the SNES has a funny tip, but the JP tap and AC adapter have a standard tip).

and don’t worry, the above comments were about buying a universal adapter for a JP tap. You definitely need 100/110v if you don’t plan to buy a non-Nintendo adapter.
