I’m planning to develop a Starfox-like game for the Virtual Boy and I’m trying to find out if there is enough interest in crowdfunding the development. It’s also planned to release a Limited Collectors Edition of the game on a cartridge (CIB). This cartridges will be available for purchase only to supporters of certain limited tier levels. I believe asking to provide a working prototype prior to funding is missing the entire point of the funding. The ask is to provide funding to allow the developer the time to properly put forth to create the product without having to make too much of a financial sacrifice to their own livelihood. I would be very skeptical myself except for the vast amount of work and releases that M.K. has already produced without any funding and has provided to the community out of free will.

Or acknowledged that M.K. decoded Mario’s Tennis to allow multiplayer and provided the patch to the community for all to enjoy? These are only examples from the past couple months. I am relatively new to this community but can see the hard work and time that was put in.

Not the best time at the moment, since holidays are always a VERY (feel free to read ridiculous) expensive period in our family. But I’m interested if I can spend the money at the right time. No promises yet, but I might.

Any updates on this project? Sounds like a cool game to bring to the system, and would potentially bring the Virtual Boy homebrew games to a new production level.
