Original Post

Hello all,
I bought a Flashboy Plus a few years ago and I am parting with it because I’m just not using it and I would rather it be with someone who will use it and not let it collect dust. (Sorry, my VB system is not for sale.)
My question is… how should I sell this? My preference is eBay, but I’ve heard that eBay may take down the posting.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

You’ve got a buyer right here if you’d be ok shipping to Canada. What were you looking to get for yours?

I’ve been meaning to get a Flash Boy Plus, but a donor cart is required and the only spare I have is Galactic Pinball, feels wrong to let one of those die.

Sure, I’ll be happy to ship to Canada! This cart came from the UK, so it will have more international travel then I have had.
Send me a private message and lets talk.

Not required

Not anymore? Last I heard a donor for the connector was needed.

Well I ended up buying a different VB item so I can’t afford a FBP at the moment, sorry.

Back to my original question…. is Ebay a good choice for selling this thing?

The selling visibility is great, but eBay’s final value fees kill any sort of extra profit one may be able to get from selling there. You’d be better off listing it here and on other forums.

Fair enough. Thanks for the insight. If I don’t get a buyer from the forums int he next few days, perhaps I’ll eBay it then. In the meantime, I’m accepting offers.

according to their site you can list up to 50 things (right now) for free. the final value fee will be 10%.

https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/paypal-fees

paypal’s fees will be 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction within the US. international will be 3.9% transaction fee plus a fixed fee based on currency received.

if it sells for what you probably paid (assuming you bought it off richard) you’ll be out a few dollars. i haven’t been a seller for a few years, and i know they tried a fix calculator shipping system for a while (based on weight). if you add in a “handling fee” (say for materials and make that clear in the auction description) you can make a few dollars back on shipping.

as far as the legality, it is 100% legal to sell a flashboy on eBay. the flashboy does not contain anything that circumvents any anti-piracy measures. it doesn’t have part of a rom as a bootstrap nor is it considered a “mod-chip”. to be fair, the people pulling auctions will have no idea what they are looking at. so you would be wise to not say certain keywords in your title or description (play ROMs, piracy, etc). i’ve seen a few FB’s sell on eBay and those sellers never had a problem.

you may also consider gamegravel.com. they have a specific VB category: http://www.gamegavel.com/listview.cgi?cat_id=34800 i am not familiar with their policy, so read any FAQ they have before listing.

good luck!

This is fantastic information. Thank you for the help! I’ll check out gamegravel!
