Adventure Vision utilized a built-in screen that used a single line of forty red LEDs that when combined with a spinning mirror allowed for a screen resolution of 150 x 40 pixels. This was also the same technology that powered another woefully received portable console, the Nintendo Virtual Boy. The Adventure Vision utilized the same core processor as the Magnavox Odyssey 2, the Intel 8048.

pretty rare system. i’ve only seen 1 other up for auction in the last 2 years, neither had a full set of games.

Hi,i sold one of my VirtualBoy’s.
Thank you The Force81 for soldering the displays!

Oh yeah well spotted, its not from me though. I think I know who it is as I sold him a couple of them, so he’s just selling the spare.
He’s selling it for less than I am when you work out the exchange rate, $10 is about £6.70, I charge £7, also the postage charge will be less, so if you live in the US and need a kit I’d say go for it.

Oooh, awesome find. Those are pretty rare indeed. Glad to see so many cool pictures of one.

I posted in the Marketplace, but then I noticed this thread.

I’m selling a VB head unit only, w/ displays fixed via soldering: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111028252713

Thanks,

The stand medallion replacement has been bid pretty high, it’s not a good value any longer.

Yeah thats just daft, he even says its made by someone on planet virtual boy, them folks either don’t get he means a web site or are a bit too lazy to check it out and get one for half the price it is now.
Good luck to him, he will have covered his cost to buy 2off if it goes a little higher.
Makes me think I should do ebay, but I just can’t be bothered, besides if folks find the medallion fix they also find our great site and community and y’never know they might have something rare to share.

I saw it, I am considering bidding as I wanted a soldered one

Is that…

hmmmmmmmm….

From what I’ve heard, the seller has both regular and demo taps and seems to have a hard time noticing the difference, so for anyone interested: send the seller a message and make sure you know you’re getting a demo tap before committing to buy.

Don’t get your hopes up on this one. Several sellers have been using the same photo to sell their taps. I can tell you for a certainty that the original seller that used that photo does not have any demo taps. I sent photos, discussed in detail, and still ended up with a standard tap. With that said, I’d be very skeptical of anyone else selling their taps using this photo.

I told the original seller that the photo is misleading and recommended they change it to prevent others from bidding for something the very likely will not receive. I’ve found it very difficult to “educate” sellers on the differences between the two even when emailing them side by side photos showing the difference. I now have 5 taps from different sellers, all of whom claimed they had the elusive demo taps, none of which did.

Buyer beware.

Yeah, twenty-six bucks, and two and a half days left. It’s my experience that prices essentially double from the last day or two, to the ending two seconds.

I bought one from a guy in Japan that showed the demo tap box, and that’s exactly what he sent me.

I guess I just got lucky. 🙂

I am pretty sure that this is the first 100-piece box I have ever seen for any Virtual Boy game:

Cool find! This is the first time I see a 100-piece box as well. It seems to be incomplete, though. Judging from the space between game boxes I bet these boxes contained 5 of the smaller 20-piece boxes.

Do all of the 20-piece boxes that you know of look like the attached one?

If so, the only way that I could see 5 of these being packed into the 100-piece box is if 4 boxes were positioned upright, but then the 5th box would have to be positioned on its side. I guess it is possible that they could have done that, but I’ve never seen it done that way before.

Well, I guess all 5 boxes could have been positioned on their sides as well.
