Hello there!

The other day I managed to achieve one of my childhood dreams… I picked up a Virtual Boy! I now have every Nintendo console, except the Wii U. (Exempting minor variations, like the vertical NES, etc)

I remembered these coming out when I was a kid, and always kind of wanted one… But could never commit to buying one off eBay. One came up on my local auction service the other day, and I decided to get it, hell or high water.

The visor was missing, but the unit itself is clean, with its stand. And there are no lines across the displays. Got TeleroBoxer (Which is awesome), and Panic Bomber with it, and immediately ordered all the rest of the games I wanted except 3D Tetris. (I’ll probably post on here looking to trade for a copy at a later date)

I made a foam visor following a simple guide I found on here, but it doesn’t quite fit my face, so I’ll have to tinker and customize one.

I just realized the left speaker is out on it too… It sounded pretty good when I first started playing it, then the left speaker suddenly kicked on and I was amazed how much better it sounded, before it crackled out 5-10 seconds later. So, probably just a loose connection. But I’ll crack it open as soon as I can make a tool to pull the screws out.

Awesome. Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the community! Have you thought about picking up a Flashboy +? Its an awesome addition to the Virtual Boy just for the Homebrew side of things alone!

Now you have to get one. It’s a really great console.

 🙂

Welcome! This is a fun place, and everyone here is really nice!

I don’t recommend playing VB in “high water” (nor do I recommend the other place!) 😯

But I seriously recommend getting one of Richard’s “Flash boy”, and playing some rare games, homebrews, etcetera. Especially Bound High — a very frustrating but fun game which always elicits screams and epithets (especially when fighting the wind!)…

Welcome brother Twilight.

Welcome to the family! Enjoy your VB!
