I was curious how much these happen. I notice my galactic pinball has a white paint spot right on the Virtual Boy Logo. It’s not a scratch or external damage. It was just printed that way.

these misprints aren’t common, but they do happen. I have a Wario Land demo cart that has white along the tops of the letters on the Virtual Boy logo where there shouldn’t be.

I work in the printing industry and I can tell you from my standpoint that these are common problems on any job.

The galactic pinball manual has what we would refer to as a hickey. That’s where a piece of debris would be stuck to the roller not allowing ink to transfer to the sheet. These can be tricky to catch if it’s not on the front cover.

The second picture we would refer to as out of register. That’s when all the colors don’t lay on top of each other correctly and are off a little bit. Keep in mind these are printed offset so each of the colors (cmyk) has to stack on top of the next perfectly. If the Press isn’t properly calibrated, this can happen.

These are just some examples of things that weren’t caught as the product was being made.

I was browsing a site that specializes in documenting misprints and other errors associated with the printing process for video game labels and such…

These two VB misprints made it onto that site.

I wonder if all Wario Land demo carts have this error? Mine does as well, and every one currently on ebay has this same error.

I was gonna say, I believe they actually all have that same error. Mine does as well, and when I was looking around and noticed it, I never found one that didn’t.

At the time I had posted that, I didn’t know that the misprint was something that was present on all the Wario Land demos. But if they were all printed on the same press that wasn’t properly calibrated, then it makes sense that they would all have the same misprint.

I haven’t seen one without it since I started paying attention to it like over a year ago.
