So, as almost every here is, I’m hugely excited to finally be able to play Dragon Hopper and Zero Racers when they come out on the Switch! But these games had me wondering about something.
Vintex64 is a site me and a few others have been discussing for a while as they “”allegedly”” knew some contact who had a few unreleased titles, consisting of the two games mentioned above, and even “VB Mario Land”. Thing is, we’ve come to accept this may not be true as they have been talking about this “lead” for several years now.
Despite this however, they do indeed sell reproductions of Bound High and Faceball from what I could tell, and I’ve been considering getting a copy of each. I’ve seen claims from a select few people online that some of their other repros are good quality (persumably not talking about their VB stuff), and I wanted to ask if anyone here has ever purchased one of their VB carts? If so, are they indeed good quality? And are the 3D effects good?
I have both mentioned reprocards from them.
I would say the quality is okay´ish.
Quite nice looking from the outside, but the soldering is not very good.
I have a few more Vintex64 reprocards which stopped working after a while and I had to resolder them.
After Richard left the scene and it was no longer possible to trade a couple of donor carts for a 1-off, I went looking for another solution. At that time, Vintex64 quoted me a decent price and I had them build me a couple of carts. Now, it’s been about 8 years since I last worked with them, however, the carts I do have are great. I’ve not had and issues. They used their own board design (at the time — not sure what they offer now) and donor shells/connectors. As far as I am concerned, they are the same quality as the carts I bought off Uncle Tusk (and crew) back when Bound High! and Faceball were making their rounds here.
