Hello,
I hope it is not improper to do this kind of postings here.
If they are please let me know…
I am an artist with game dev experience. I am looking for VB project to contribute on. I would prefer with somebody that already has a record of completing other games even if it is on a different platform. I have samples of my work I can show to demonstrate I have the skills.
I just got a VB and would love to get some experience with it.
Thanks!

VBLover,
I am not sure I understand your reply. My message has nothing to do with that one. Are you pointing out that I posted it at the wrong section? or are you wondering if I am the same person that did that other posting?, which I am not.
Thanks for the link though, it is nice to see that there are people here collaborating together.

He thought you were the other person in the link
Anyways if you are seriouse and want to make a vb game without getting paid then just check out the homebrew section (games–>homebrew) and there are some games you can finish if the creators feel like giving you the source code

Or you can start over and make some nice games
Some ideas: pacman, shmup game, 1st person shooter, puzzle game….

ps, competition ends within a month so hurry and make something 🙂

Hi Confusednerd and welcome to PVB! Lesson 1: Ignore akumie 😀

There’s much more art guys than coders, and usually people create graphics for their games on their own, so it’s rather hard to find a coder. I think it would be best if you showed off what you have done before and see if someone is interested.

If you want to choose a more progressive approach, you could browse the development board, see who is actively coding and offer your help.

For example, HorvatM is working on Soviet Union 2010 and I think he is still in need for decent graphics: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4035&forum=2

Or JZagal, his game Channel Sweeper only had placeholder graphics: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=3781&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0&start=0

Wow, I can’t believe KR155E actually recommended me. What an honor!

I could use a 32*32 ‘meteorite’ sprite, or you can improve my existing graphics if you want to.

“Lesson 1: Ignore akumie”

Very funny, atleast the germans have humor until you put a group of them in France 🙂

Sorry KR155E but that was a smack down… :rolleyes… Sorry to be offtopic

Hi Confusednerd,

Welcome to the forum. I’ve sent you a PM.

“Sorry KR155E but that was a smack down”,
hmm what do you mean by smack down?, did I own kri55e or what 😛

Just to get started Confusednerd on a game and make all of us vb geeks happy :-p

WOW GUYS!!!
Thanks for such a warm welcome. I didn’t want to start posting links because I didn’t even know if I was at the right forum, or what the etiquette here was but since I am being asked to show some stuff, I’ll show you some links.
I did all the GUI work for the Atari 2600 Pocket PC emulator:

Some label entries for cartridge competions at Atariage, my favorite:

Some spaceship work:

Feel free to browse through the rest of the site.

I like working on independent stuff. It is currently a hobby so I can not put 40 hours a week on this. When involved on a project I do put the time. I had some personal issues and was out of the game dev scene for a while but I am looking to get into it again.
I have been doing 3d gfx for many years but I don’t have any steroscopic experience. I am a fast learner and with some guidance I know I can learn and come up with interesting stuff. I hope we can do many things together.
Thanks.

To be straight forward like I am most of the time 😛
On top of page “community –> vb dev wiki” then just get reading, its not easy for me who has never made a game because you need to program for each visor unlike on other systems like the atari 2600
Also there is no way of making money of a game because the only way to play them on hardware is threw the flashboy (free roms threw usb cable)

So box art is out of the question but like I said just get reading and it might be easier then it looks, who knows

He is not trying to learn how to code a game himself, he is trying to find someone who will use his artwork in a game that they’re coding.

oh now that I didnt get, I thought he was showing his artwork just to say that he can do that and he has tried some coding and now he wants to start coding a vb game

VBSam is right. I want to be part of a team, doing the GFX stuff.

I wish I had time to do some coding right now… my graphics and audio skills are lacking, so I tend to either rip stuff, or just make simple images/sounds.
