I have a battery pack that I’ve had since childhood (bought retail) — unfortunately I left some batteries in and there was some corrosion to a spring. Fortunately it was just a small amount in one area, unlike some horror vids I’ve seen.

Having bought at least 2 VBs (was up to 3, gave one as a gift) as replacements, I’ve discovered that I could access the bottom area of the battery pack by sliding it out, so I decided to try and clean up and fix it — since battery packs can be pretty pricey.

Unfortunately, one of the bottom springs was too brittle and snapped, making it useless. So now I need a replacement. Everything else inside looks pretty good, so I believe this to be very salvagable. But I am not sure where to start in getting a replacement spring. Is this kind of spring unique to he VB, or can I just steal one from some other electronic?

I will gladly buy one from someplace if possible as well.

Attached is a photo of the scene in question.

Thank you for any help!

Anything can work as long as it touchs the correct surface areas of the battery and is soldered in correctly, so the connectivity isn’t broken.

The spring is to keep the battery tight, but allow “wiggle” room as well.

you can Go to radio Shack and look at they’re Battery packs and holders. Check the springs in those and I’m sure you’ll find something comparable.

Hey, frostyboy,

Just wanted to let you know I’m selling one of these battery box contact inserts.

I hope I’m not too late…
