Mawa,

I have several questions for you. When you look closely at the front of the Virtual Boy box with your naked eye:

1. Does the Nintendo Logo in the upper left corner look completely white? If not, what other color is showing to your naked eye?

2. Does the VUE-S-RA(JPN) writing in the upper right corner look completely white? If not, what other color is showing to your naked eye?

3. Does the “3D Display Game System Virtual Boy” and Japanese text beneath it look at all reddish, bluish, or completely white to your naked eye?

4. Do the “Virtual Boy” logo, IPD dial, and Focus slider on the head unit of the Virtual Boy itself show any signs of bluing to your naked eye, or do they look completely black and/or some shade of grey?

5. Apart from the splotches on the system itself, can you see any sort of red with your naked eye on the head unit of the Virtual Boy?

That’s just badly sun bleached.

Cool that you risked buying this, though it is clear that it is sun-faded and nothing else. The rest of the box proves that, though the VB looks great!
What did you pay for it in the end?

It’s just a sun faded box. Pretty sure about that!

here are your answers from what i have found out
iff you need more info just ask i will provide all the info you want to know

answer : Yes it does look white ( whit some bluing )

2. Does the VUE-S-RA(JPN) writing in the upper right corner look completely white? If not, what other color is showing to your naked eye?

answer : Yes also this looks white ( whit some bluing )

3. Does the “3D Display Game System Virtual Boy” and Japanese text beneath it look at all reddish, bluish, or completely white to your naked eye?

Answe : it is not white looks like some verry sunfaded red ( almost to white )

4. Do the “Virtual Boy” logo, IPD dial, and Focus slider on the head unit of the Virtual Boy itself show any signs of bluing to your naked eye, or do they look completely black and/or some shade of grey?

answer :

on the box the focus looks black the ipd dial looks in front grey and back black
on the system i have check this whit 2 virtual boys systems and they look the same ( so i cant find strange things
so the red is red and the black is black
The ipd and focus are grey

5. Apart from the splotches on the system itself, can you see any sort of red with your naked eye on the head unit of the Virtual Boy?

Answer : there are 2 red marks on the system box but i cant tell iff its dirt or from the box itself ( i have cleaned the box but it keeps on there ) see picture’s

Hey, Mawa!

Thanks for your answers to my questions. Yeah, I figured that what you could see with your naked eye is a bit different from what I am seeing via the photograph on my computer monitor.

You actually answered my next question, too, as I was wondering what the heck was causing those red splotches. If it’s from the original color of the VB, then I’m wondering what was there, which preserved the red.

Also, I notice streaks running down the VB head unit on the box front. Do these streaks appear to you to have been caused by some sort of water damage at some point?

this whas dirt after cleaning it it whas goin
the red spots i cant get off the box so my thinking is that those where from the Original color

Thanks for posting and confirming everything Mawa, it’s really appreciated. As I said before, I would offer to buy the loose VB if you didn’t find the need to keep it, not sure what was paid in the end but I hope you don’t regret the purchase too much if at all.

Nice to have some resolution to this contentious and controversial topic.

What happens from here?

Mawa. Thanks for clearing this up!

Even though the box is faded it’s still a nice clean looking Virtual Boy, wich you can never have too many of. 🙂

Thanx people but its no big deal just whas wanting to know whats goining on

System will get sold ( probbely already this satarday on the retro burse in oberhausen ) becouse i have to many systems laying around here
But thats also my work so no big deal ( selling import out off japan items )

System is looking good and works perfect

Thanks Mawa, I sent you a PM, I’d like to buy it if there’s an opportunity, been after a second loose VB for a while now…
