Original Post

Was browsing Assembler and came across this. I know a lot of people are looking for this game, so I figured I’d post it here. Cart only and no label though.

One caveat, I have no idea who this dude is, so purchase at your discretion. Price is also a little much for just the cart (I paid $85 for CIB I seem to recall). But since these aren’t readily available I guess that’s alright.

I always liked that the vb community is not like that. Everyone shares their bit, whether it is making games, sharing source code snippets to enable others, pointing out auctions, repairing display and broken vb, writing books, making shirts, sharing scans, doing translations or just participating in the general discussions.

That’s actually the reason why I’m still around. People are just nice here. No one cares if the same “my displays are broken” thread is created over and over again and no one gets tired responding.

I have to agree that the VB community is actually one of the nicest gaming communities on the planet, and by nicest, I mean it has the nicest people.

One reason why I am not too sad about leaving Atari collecting and selling most of my Atari collection is the fact that the Atari community, quite frankly, sucks! I have seen far too many people in that community be jerks about a lot of things. So it’s true, the Atari systems just don’t have as much of an impact on me as the Virtual Boy, which is the main reason why I don’t mind selling most of my Atari stuff, but since the Atari community is full of crappy people, making me no longer want to be a part of it at all any more, it just makes the choice all that much easier to put my Atari collecting days behind me. But as for Virtual Boy, I’m still hoping to keep my collection preserved and growing well into the future, as well as remain active in this community.

Oh yeah… I’m not afraid to admit that the NES community is probably the worst, mainly because it just has so many people, and the more people you add, the more likely the scum will creep in.

I’m done with my non-Virtual Boy gaming community ranting now.

Heh, seconding that NES comment – I think Nintendo Age sums that up pretty well.

Having said that – the Japanese side (Famicom) of NES collecting is much, much friendlier in the west, and I’ve been visiting FamicomWorld.com daily for ten years now, they are a great bunch and there’s nothing like the elitism and passive aggression you see on Nintendo Age there.

For any NES fans, the Famicom is also a better machine to play and collect for (if I can put my bias to one side), for many reasons.

I would like to just say something about this community real quick since we’re on the subject…

I’ve only been a member on this site for about a year, and if you were to look back at some of my very first posts in the Serial Number Inventory, or even my “new member” thread, you’ll notice some pretty horrific grammatical errors. This is because I HATE TYPING, always have always will. I was never any good at it and is one of the reasons why I never joined the community years sooner. When I did finally join, I was a little worried that there would be that one ass in the bunch that would say something stupid about my typing skills and make me change my mind about joining the community. But here I am a year and a crap load of more grammatical errors later, and not a single person has ever said anything to upset me in any way, and that is just one reason why I like and respect this community so much…

the people here are very respectful.

Well I think you are all a bunch of bastards and everything all of you ever post is stupid and retarded.

(j/k !) :p

Given the choice, I’d rather stay at Famicom World exclusively. What I love is piracy has been a part of the Famicom for almost as long as the Famicom itself, so nobody is offended by bootlegs, unlike at NintendoAge. Well, I guess the only exception is Gimmick, but Famicom doesn’t really have a quadruple digit game (or full-time collectors), so there isn’t much counterfeiting going on. The few Famicom collectors around are very friendly. I find the bootleg underbelly of the Famicom helps contribute a sense of levelheadedness to the hobby.

We’re all too busy playing Virtual Boy or coding VB programs to notice. 😛

Gee, I thought I’d at least qualify for “bloody git”.

Oh weird, I just noticed the username. I bought an Everdrive N8 shell from you of Famicomworld

I completely second your thoughts on it all. Famicom collecting is much better than NES and the community is excellent.

I made those, but how the hell did he end up with 5.

These were supposed to be sold with the box / label etc and one per customer (as they are in demand).

The original Bound High cart you made for us several years ago were cart only. I have one of those, but I made a custom label, instruction booklet, box, etc. for it. AFAIK, I remember I sent my PhotoShop designs to someone here in the VB community who used them for good and finally evolved into the “retail Bound High” which you made and sold.

On a side note, is there anyone here who still remembers the “retail Blox” I made with help from people from here? I attach you the image for you to enjoy. It was my first “commercial box and instruction booklet” made 😛

i enjoy my vb. i don’t love it as much as some people here. i could have easily joined up and kept my involvement to discussing hacks and homebrew. that would have satisfied me at most communities. the reason why i post and try to get involved in discussions here is because this community goes beyond just being nice. it has a positive attitude towards every topic of discussion. it gets old when half the posts in a thread only point out negative aspects. eventually you will start to question why you made the post in the 1st place. thankfully, i’ve never felt that here.

Yes, I remember seeing pictures of your CIB Blox not too long after I joined the site about 5 years ago. It was actually one of the inspirations for me to start making English translations for the boxes and instruction booklets for the Japanese-only games, as I wanted to make my own boxes and instruction manuals for them. Of course, once the Tusk Team started up with the better boxes and manuals than I could have ever made, I ended up just purchasing those rather than trying to make and print off my own boxes and instruction manuals.

Glad to see this story had a positive ending. 🙂

Coming out of the woodwork to say, I’ve always had great respect for what this community has been able to achieve, and how supportive of each other everyone is. I’ve mostly been lurking lately since life will be life (got married, bought a house, changed jobs) but I keep an eye on what everyone here is up to. And I’ve still got a special place in my nostalgia-heart for our little red-and-black oddball of a game system.

If someone had told 15-year-old-me that one day I’d have an English-language SD Gundam cart, for example… I’d have gone nuts! Incredible kudos to bigmak, Tusk, Ben, MineStorm, and everyone who’s had a hand in the top-notch repro releases so far.

With all that said – finances being what they were at the time, I did unfortunately end up missing out on Fishbone and Faceball Remastered… so if there’s ever a chance of another batch of either, I’d be interested. (I know better than to even ask about HF at this point, lol.)

In the words of the immortal Bill & Ted – be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes!
