I’m having a very tough time deciding which hue I’m going to pick up on launch day. Traditionally, I would have gone with black… but every time I see the Aqua Blue color I grow more and more fond of it. Nintendo have really outdone themselves with the styling of the 3DS, that deep metallic sheen under a layer of clear is truly a sight to behold. While the black looks classy, the blue jumps out and has that candy-paint hotrod look to it (I wish I had red to choose from!). So please, give me your suggestion and reasoning behind it. It is greatly appreciated.

Check out this gallery for nice shots of each color!

I really hate the 3-color blue scheme they have going on. I would definitely go with black even though it seems like the more boring option.

I have to agree, the 3-color scheme is very ‘different’ to say the least… I really like the Aqua Blue lid, but when the system is open the color looks cheap. The 3-color scheme works really well on the Cosmo Black 3DS. Thanks for your input.

I think I want Cosmo Black (and just get some sort of case or cover thats red) but sometimes I wonder if I got a Cosmo Black 3DS would Nintendo almost instantly announce a Red or Red/Black 3DS?

but then if I waited and the 3DS failed I’d get no Red 3DS and feel bad that I didn’t get the 3DS and feel that I was the one of the people who made it fail 😉

You can rest assured that Nintendo won’t announce any new colors for at least a year after release.

I just tested out one of the demo 3DS units at Best Buy. WOW! That screen is so amazing/gorgeous/jaw-dropping, it almost brought a tear to my eye… a tear of joy of course. It was an Aqua Blue unit and I have to say that it looks much better in person than photographed, though my money is still with Cosmo Black.

Yep I’m with VBSAM there, black for me.
I have not tried one out, and not that worried to either, although I’m sure if the demo unit that was advertised out front of a shop in town last week did actually exist, i would most likely have given it a go, but it wasn’t there. I know it will be great, just how great I’ll know in a little over a week, I’ve made myself not check out the vids etc on all the features, I kinda know what it all does but I want the surprises and Nintendo grins for me on day one.

First game purchase: Pilotwings

I’m really underwhelmed by the launch games. I think they need to have a really strong start with good first party games and so far there doesn’t seem to be anything particularly amazing that will be a must-have title. I guess you could argue Pilot Wings but I really don’t have any nostalgic connection to that game like some people do.

Yeah def not the most inspiring collection for launch.
was looking even worse for me until Pilotwings was announced as launch for US & UK. I do have very fond memories of borrowing those 2 on the snes & n64, i can’t have had the cash at the time to buy them, else i would still own them, but top games.
The flight bits in Wii sport resort reminded me of them so once Pilotwings was announced i knew how it would look and behave, but its still not a must have nintendo franchise launch game, but then they did say they wanted third party Co’s to take on the launch, pity, cos we all know Nintendo games show the rest how to use their hardware, then they all struggle to keep up.

I was hoping Kid Icarus Uprising was going to be a launch game for the 3DS when I first heard about it 🙁

thats another thing that makes me wonder if I should wait to get the 3DS

I’m going to pick up Steel Diver and nintendogs+cats (for the Mrs. of course ;-)).

The games that are available on day 1 aren’t amazing and I think it lacks that ‘killer app.’ Though, the software thats included in the system seems to be enough to warrant a purchase without buying any games.

Sorry for bumping an older thread, but Cosmo black for me.
I love colored consoles, but the blue just didn’t impress me (nor offend me).

I have no doubt in my mind that I will be buying a new special edition color 3DS when they are released if it tickles my fancy.

red? or red? or… RED?!

*wants red 3DS* 😮

You’ll probably have to wait till the next lineup of specially colored 3DSes, then. 😛

Me, I like my consoles black. But this blue one has a certain flair to it that I like. Maybe I’ll get that one instead.
