I was originally going to ask which robot type thing would win in a fight- the Peatron from Space Squash or Chalvo from Bound High. Then I got to thinking how fun it would be to pair the two up in some adventure/platformer. Maybe the Peatron could fly/walk as Chalvo bounced along beside him. The left D-pad and A/B would control Peatron like a Mario Bros. game. The right D-pad would direct Chalvo’s motion, and maybe the right trigger would make him stick to the ground for a couple seconds (like a ‘duck’ function). I’m picturing some fun jumping and projectile hurling activities…

I was thinking there could be times when Peatron bats Chalvo through the air (L trigger?) like he does the ball in Space Squash, perhaps to attack enemies or reach a high area only Chalvo can explore. Maybe Chalvo also has to fall down pits, solve an overhead puzzle Bound High style, then bounce back up that pit using small ledges ( Dragon Hopper style heh).

Hopefully that rambling stream of consciousness made sense :). I guess it’s just a combination of their original 2 games and Chalvo 55. Now, if only I could program…

That’s kinda weird… I came up with a game very similar to this idea, based on my own characters! The main difference is mine is meant to be a two-player game with each player controlling one of the characters (which are both full “platformer” characters, with different skill sets).

I really like the Chalvo mini-game idea! Kinda reminds me of the GC game Wario World.

You should definitely use this idea to start learning how to code for the VB. It’s really not that hard. Just take a look at some commented examples (there should be another good batch in a couple of months! ;-)), install VBDE, and start trying things out. Put it on a public repository like Github and I’m sure people would be glad to help out.

That’s funny- but at least yours were original characters, you won’t face a class action copyright suit from Coconuts Japan and Japan System Supply ;-). I hope you make that sometime, it would be great to start making use of the VB Link Cable eventually. I’m gradually starting to learn the ins and outs of programming, so I hope to start experimenting with making games this year!

PS- RunnerPack would be a good name for one of the characters, he could be the one who is able to run faster and do more agile movements (and solder VB cables in some kind of bonus mini game heh…).
