I feared that this time would come for me eventually, and now it has, when I must begin to sell off my cherished Virtual Boy collection. I got laid off from my job today, and on top of that, I have been going through a very difficult time in my personal life for the past several years, resulting in seemingly never-ending, large, unavoidable, and unpredictable expenses, which has caused me to accrue a rather large amount of debt. If I don’t do something about this now, it will be a burden that I will carry for far too long. What can I say? I love Virtual Boy collecting and hope that others will enjoy pursuing it to their hearts’ desire, but the difficult situation I’m facing in my personal life far outweighs the joy that Virtual Boy collecting gives me, so it is time to let go of collecting. I’m certainly not leaving the Virtual Boy scene, though. The Virtual Boy will always be considered the greatest system on the planet by me.

Because I need a fair amount of cash somewhat soon, I’ll be listing the rarest games that I have on Ebay very soon, which I believe are in high demand, and hopefully the demand will allow me to get back, in a short amount of time, about what I originally paid for them. I also have a fair amount of very rare Virtual Boy items, for which I paid a good bit of cash, but I realize that the demand for these very rare items is not very high. Basically, the way I want to handle them is to allow you serious Virtual Boy collectors some time and thought to decide which item you would like to add to your collection and how much you’d be willing to offer me for it. I have kept very detailed accounting records on all of my Virtual Boy purchases that I’ve made over the last couple of years. If you are interested in purchasing one of my very rare items that isn’t in high demand, I am very willing to tell you exactly the amount of money that I originally paid for the item and even the date on which I made the purchase. It would be great if I could be offered an amount equal to what I paid for it, but if we can work out a fair deal for an amount that is less than what I originally paid, I would be very grateful for that as well. I hope that the reputation that I have tried to establish on this site since I joined will allow you to see that I am an honest person and that I would never give you false information or try to swindle you in any way.

Every single item that I have in my Virtual Boy collection appears on my profile page here:

As items sell, I will do my best to update both my profile page as well as this thread very soon after, so that you know what all items I still have available. If you see an item that you like and would like to get in touch with me to make an offer, you can send me a PM or e-mail me directly at:

Thanks for considering me as your potential Virtual Boy item seller, and may your collection continue to grow!

I know how you feel

Ben I am so sorry it’s come to this. I could only wish for you that a winning lottery ticket would fall out of the sky to help you w these tough decisions. There’s not a good chance that is going to happen. as you know sometimes we must sacrifice the things we love to stay afloat. As always my prayers are w you and your family.

Oh man, that sounds like a real bummer. Sorry to read about that. 🙁

But hey, at least your collection’s there to help you get through your current situation!

Sorry to hear about that man. I hope everything works out for you. I’m sure in time you’ll get to a position to replace your VB collection. Glad that you’re still sticking around! This place wouldn’t be the same without you.

This is sad to hear for sure. I hope it doesn’t take long to get back on your feet, Ben.

Sorry to hear you need to part with your collection, it is super nice, and anyone of us would love to have it.

Life happens, and as long as your breathing, problems will happen. I’ve had to sell several of my collections over the years, for all different reasons(including my own VB collection).

Just remember that any items you have to sell, will go to a good home, and will be treasured by others. Take the good out of your current situation and move forward. Good luck on your sales.

Sorry to hear that you’re having to sell. Good luck with everything. I hope it all works out for you.

Ben is a class act and has help the virtual boy community in ways I can’t even express. If there’s anything I can do to help ben..just let me know.

Thanks so much, everyone, for all of the support and effort to help me out.

Today, Red Alarm (J), Teleroboxer (J), Vertical Force (J), the Jack Bros. prototype cart, Nester’s Funky Bowling Ceiling Hanger, the Japanese Demo tap, and the VB pogs left my possession for their new homes. I’ve updated my profile accordingly.

Ben are you planning on keeping at least one virtual boy and maybe a flashboy? It would be a shame to go without.

Yes, I do plan to keep one Virtual Boy and my Flash Boy Plus. Everything else is open game, though it may take me a while to figure out how I’m going to pack and ship the larger items.

Jack Bros. (U), Insmouse no Yakata, Space Squash, Faceball: Prototype Edition, the VB prototype controller, and a sealed AC Adapter Set (I still have a non-sealed one) left my possession for their new homes recently. I’ve updated my profile accordingly.

Glad your still going to be a VB gamer and not just standing on virtual side line.

Good luck with packing and shipping! 🙂

Sorry to hear about that bad news Ben.
Sad you have to sell your collection
I admired always your wonderfull collection.
I hope everything works out for you.
Good luck Ben.

I would like to thank everyone, so much, for the great response that I received to the selling of my VB items as a result of the unfortunate circumstances that I am facing. The money that I have already received from sales is certainly going to help me out a great deal for the next several months.

At this point, I must say that I need to “close up shop” for now. If you have already sent me money for items, I will be shipping them out to you soon and will send you tracking information. If you already have a pending offer with me, please feel free to follow it up if you like. Otherwise, I won’t be accepting new offers for any more of my Virtual Boy items at this time. It does take me a good bit of time to handle such things, and right now, I need to focus all of my time and energy on searching for a new job.

Thanks again for all of the help and support. It feels so great to be part of such an awesome community! 🙂
