I think this thread also has some plans for a 3-d printed stand clip.

If you can export the files as .stl, I’ll have a go at printing them for you.

I know about the leg medallion I’m talking about the part that clips to the vb it’s self and the pivot that goes to the metal bracket then to the legs
here are the files in stl format but i think it may have some problems printing give it a shot tho post some pics

the model is not totaly compleat i just want a fitment to see if it works my printer is down 🙁 due to print head falling apart lol

here is a pic of them both

FYI, I know Hedgetrimmer posted a model of at least the clip half of that: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=16876#forumpost16876 . A couple of us have printed them, and they turned out good.

Jay666 posted pics of his print in that thread, and I printed a couple of them for retronintendonerd a couple months ago: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=28669#forumpost28669 , and they worked perfectly.

I know Hedgetrimmer has done a lot of models… I’m not sure whether he has posted that other part you’re working on, but I see he posted a video from Solidworks of the entire stand assembly here: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=7502 , so if you PM him, he may send you the STL.

I can’t test them because I don’t have a stand for my VB.

Then what are you waiting for? Print one!

Seriously though, would that be possible? The prices of stand-alone (pun not intended) stands and stand components on eBay are ridiculous.

does it clip to the vb properly ???
i also made a mistake if u look at the small clip part its to narrow on the part that hooks the console i need to re post the updated stl for that part let me know how fitment is

here is updated file

i know what u mean lol i already made the metal part for the stand and the legs 😛 all i need is to finish it my goal is for a totaly diy stand best part it good for the avrage guy who wants to own a vb and use it with out duck tapeing it to his head lol

Few more models in STL, should be all needed to complete the top part, without the screw or the soft plastic washer.
Hope it works, be interested to see results.

The models look awesome as usual HT. I recently upgraded to a dual extruder printer, but haven’t tried the support material yet… this looks like it’d be a good candidate to experiment with.

I’ll post back with the results when I get a chance to try it.

OK, apart from the centre of the base. The inner cylinder wasn’t attached to anything.

does it clip to the vb properly ???

Only thing wrong is the clip lugs a too large to fit into the base.

I’m in the middle of printing your revised clip. Don’t know if you changed the size of the lugs ? (will find out in 15 minutes).

I’m still in awe over 3-D printing. Time was when the only way to make plastic parts was to fork over $8,000 to $20,000 for a mold (that was the price quoted to me for a small box for a device that protected buildings from neon signs that went “rogue”). But now we can print anything.

I just got an ad emailed to me for a PEN, you can draw things in the air and then print them in 3D! (Seems pretty obvious you can use the pen to trace existing objects and instantly create the design file…)

BTW, do they make plastic stock that glows in the dark? That would be cool to have some VB parts glowing brightly! I know, glow-RED would be coolest, but red pigments only glow a few minutes. Green and aqua glow all night!

Yes, green and blue glowing.

There’s also UV colour-changing filament.

Cool… looks nice!

I’ve got some glow-in-the-dark green PLA… I like the color, but as far as glowing goes, it’s pretty pitiful. You have to charge it with a VERY bright light, and then you can barely see it glowing in a dark room.

If the lugs are too big I’ll edit the model. I think I did miss an inner sleeve when exporting the other day, I think I modelled it but missed it was inside, I’ll check my models out in a bit and post the part in STL if I have it.

3D printing glow stuff, yeah that’s cool, my wife will instantly think of a thousand items I should model and print. I may well be in touch with you 3D printing fellas for a favour……:)

I was referring to drunkencat’s model. Your’s fit’s OK.

Oh cool, pleased it fits.
I have just checked and I have all parts and features modelled, just took a stand apart and my model seems to be the same.
If anyone does spot a problem let me know and I’ll fix the model.

What’s tge issue with my model I dident include the ratchet because it whould be weak I wanted to fill the gap in side and use a different method so u can get full rance of motion and it’s can be drilled so u can add it to a desk light stand easy as well

Here is a test print on a maker replicator 2 gen 5 printer dam things pissing me off Im prob better off with a diy printer what printers u guys useing

P’s prints In pla
