Original Post

Hey everyone. I recently decided to play my VB for the first time in a few months since I picked up Red Alarm for a good deal. I haven’t used this thing in a while, and I’ve had it in my display case so there’s no way it could have fallen and gotten damaged.

When I turned it on I noticed that the background was sort of garbled. I tried Wario Land instead, and then I noticed scan lines. I took my eyes out and looked into both the lens individually. The right lens is completely fine, but the left lens is only displaying scan lines. No picture whatsoever.

I would guess that I should try the oven trick? I know that VB’s are delicate and for some reason break easily, but when I got this as a Christmas present it was in perfect shape. I’ve kept it in perfect shape as well :P.

Thanks for the help, whoever gives it to me :).

This can happen even if said Virtual Boy is hardly used and/or handled carefully

This seems to me that this is the common ribbon cable problem; you can do either the oven trick or the solder fix to make the scan lines go away

Agree with gunpeiyokoifan.

As for VBs and delicate. The only parts lacking Nintendium is the ribbon cable display. (Why Big N did not do the same thing as the did on the Motherboard I have no idea…) and the Stand.
