Hey everyone!

New to the forum but old fan of the Virtual Boy (and all things retro gaming). Just wanted to show you a custom “Eye Shield” I just finished and put up on ebay. Until reading this forum I had been referring to these pieces as visors, my apologies. Will fix that next time! Thoughts??

I think they are great πŸ™‚ good job πŸ™‚

did you do that cross-stitching pattern yourself or did the material come that way? it looks pretty good. what is the stiffness like? One thing I enjoy about the original is that its soft but also rigid.

Looks like it is more softer and comfortable. Do you sell it outside zhe US? Can we buy one directly from you – i would say i’m interested!

Welcome to PVB, SuperRetroBrosBlog! Great job on the eyeshade! The quilting is a nice touch.

BTW, the official name, from the VB manual (which you can read on this site) is “eyeshade”, but “visor” has been used unofficially for as long as I can remember, so it’s all good πŸ˜‰

Thanks for the positive comments everyone, and thanks for the warm welcome to the site. Big fan of Planet VB and all the great information this community continues to provide!

The black fabric I purchased with the quilted pattern already stitched in, I didn’t want to attempt to get all the diamonds evenly spaced by hand lol. They are very soft but still hold the shape quite well. I tried some variations with leather , plaid, and other fabrics but it always came out too stiff honestly so I took down my postings. I use a backing on both fabrics to re-enforce the shape before stitching everything together. If this auction gets around 40 bucks or higher I’m gonna take off the shipping charges also. I purchased some different fabrics with mario and other designs on it but it would be cool to design a custom fabric online that is very virtual boy themed. Thinking about using a site like Spoonflower where you can do the design yourself. Only problem with that is they usually charge a grip.

Wow! That’s fantastic! Well done Sir! It looks much more comfortable than the Ol’ visor. Will you be able to make any more of these in the future? O.o

Mmmh, if someone could test it here for the community and it’s as good as it looks like we can make a kind of collective purchase order.

But what did you guys here on Planet VB think about this?

By the way – this one reminds me somehow of a mole…

Yeah I definitely plan on making more of them in the future. Really depends on the feedback I get. Hahaha a mole.. so like the small rodent moles? or like the kind of small brown lumps that appear on human bodies? I honestly was waiting for a comment that it looks like an oven glove!

Huzzah! Stupendous. I was planning on bidding on the current auction myself too, but only if you could do international shipping. I just recently finally got my hands on a Virtual boy, so playing some Red alarm in comfort sounds quite appealing personally.

But the question is, is there a Mole and a Vole?

I most certainly was not calling you a mole my friend! This time around I will probably just do domestic shipping but I would be glad to make you one and ship it out to you in the near future. What we are actually thinking about doing is putting some kind of lottery system in place on the SuperRetroBros Blog, where each month we will choose someone that is following us and give out either a free game (from various consoles) or a free custom accessory (such as one of these pieces).

I would suggest the first one – the rodent mole!

Hey – a moscot is born 😅

Hahaha awesome. Much obliged Bomberman! Now im gonna have moles on the mind..

😂

hahahaha perfect

Huzzah! Thats fantastic SuperBros! Thanking you very much! If you could send me a heads up when you could make me one in the future that would be top notch! The lottery Idea does sound very appealing too my friend, you’d certainly get me entering every month. Would the winner choose the prize or would the prize be pre organised?

Perhaps ‘The Mole Hole’? It blocks out all light, and only the person inside can see what lies within!

Sounds great! I will definitely keep you updated. Ill let you know or pm you when I get some time to sit down and make some more of these. As far as the lottery system goes, I think I would have to make it a multiple choice kinda deal where you can pick from like 1 of 3 prizes or something. Just so I can ensure people aren’t getting a game they already have or something they didn’t want to win in first place lol.
