Original Post

Just discovered this site not too long ago, and would like to say hello.

I am a very huge collector of video games, mainly Nintendo, and have a vast growing collection.

My Virtual Boy collection isn’t as impressive, but I hope to have the select titles that I want soon. Until’ then, I’ve attached a picture of my Virtual Boy collection.

See you guys around!

Welcome!

Boxed games…. I feel jealous. I have none.

Those definitely aren’t original boxes, though. It looks like they were homemade, or maybe made by a rental store? Whoever made them did a very good job, though. They look very nice.

Yeah, those boxes can be misleading from that picture. They are actually a case project I do for all my games. They are just red Nintendo DS cases, with printed art work.

I’m not fortunate to have the original boxes, but it doesn’t bother me much, as I much prefer the Nintendo DS cases.

Hello and welcome!

I do like that idea of the ds boxes, looks great. Have you modified the inside to be able to hold a VB game?

I did not modify the inside. I pretty much placed the cartridge where a DS cartridge would go, and it snaps shut. It does bulge alittle, but nothing really noticeable.

Welcome, and enjoy your stay! The VB was and still is a very cool console.

I have the boxes of about 8 vb games 😉

That’s cool, at least it protects the games. Gota look after this virtual boy stuff, its all nearly 16-17 years old now.

You should get an AC Adapter set! (or an AC Adapter tap and use a SNES AC Adapter!)

By the way, welcome to the site LordXaero!

I have got the adapter set but iv never got round to buying a step-down transformer (I live in the UK). Also the UK snes is 9v ac so can’t use that.

you can pick one up from any Maplins or online, please don’t be scared as it’s well worth it.

Thanks man ill check it out. I might even get the Mrs to buy me one for Christmas!

Just make sure you get the correct voltage etc. 🙂

Hi, I’m also new to the forums. This site is really great. I’ve always used this site as a primary source for Virtual Boy information. I recently bought myself a Virtual Boy with Mario’s Tennis.

I also live in the UK (England). Are you using the Japanese or US AC Adapter? I was planning on using a Japanese AC Adapter Tap and a PAL SNES AC Adapter from the UK, so would it not work without a step-down converter?

I heard on another forum that a user from the UK had no problems with the same equipment, and that they didn’t need a step-down converter.

The problem is that the PAL snes power adapter outputs 9v ac but the VB requires 9v dc. It will work but you are running a huge risk of burning out your VB. Best bet is get down maplins and buy a converter. As far as I was aware the US and JAP adapter taps are the same. Hope this helps.

It was helpful. Thanks!

US is 110v and JP is 100v I thought, but it’s safe.

I picked a 300w step-down up from Maplins earlier today, they have them for £24.99 or you can get a much smaller one (that was always fine with my famicom) for I think £14.99.

Thats a fair deal for the 300w. The small 45w one would be perfect for the VB.
