i am curious for some first hardware and software pics, it’s hard to imagine how it will look. But how far i know nintendo at the present stage this should probably kick ass, i hope so at least….
success is guaranteed! as it will be downwardly compatible

That’s pretty much how I feel about the 3DS. It has the potential to be an amazing, and very revolutionary, system
I am pretty excited as well, even thinking about creating a website about it. I registered planet3ds.net yesterday. Time might be too sparse in the end, but I am trying to come up with a good concept to see if it can be done.
i don’t know… there will be a lot of pages about it in the future and i don’t think it will be as special as the VB is…
but maybe you can sell the url for much much dollars, so we can afford some vb proto stuff
smart move by ninty, 3D IS the future after all!
cant wait to get my hands on one!
will we see 3D Wii??
(how do i edit my posts?, couldnt see a button/option)
Hope you all like this if you havn’t seen it already. this may be related or similar tech. I found it a long time ago working on wii stuff and just never thought to post it here. I heard that this guy was offered a job from microsoft following this and his other inventions. Even if it is not the same principle… it still has a million implications for 3d gaming in the future. I just don’t think the corporations are done milking the 2d market yet… but just imagine playing space squash.
here also some of this 3d effects on hd television playstation 3
i really like this and think this can really change the game world.
That kinda 3D has been around for a long time though… arcade games like Police 911 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4__ssaLrTo ) used it. IMO the part of the 3DS that excites me is the display. We’ve already seen that a plain DSi can change view depending on head position, and there’s really nothing technically challenging about changing the viewpoint… the hardest part is properly tracking the head, which just takes a camera and some software.
BTW, if anyone is looking to do head tracking on a PC, FreeTrack ( http://www.free-track.net/english/ ) works really well (and is free). Just install some LEDs on a hat, glasses, etc, connect a webcam, and go. For better performance, I modified my webcam (removed the IR filter, then covered the lens with the magnetic portion of a floppy to only pass IR), though it’s not necessary.
