Howdy-

I put on eBay a Vectrex with a pause button mod that I installed: http://www.ebay.com/itm/160987515206

YouTube video of pause button in action…errr, in inaction, actually! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAy_bMh5O18

I also fully tested this Vectrex w/ Test Cart rev 4 (running on the 72-in-1 multicart), & the monitor is adjusted & its controller is tested good.

I have 2-3 more Vectrexes on which I’ll perform the same mod then sell. Let’s see how this eBay auction goes, and, if anybody else here has interest, we can probably strike up a deal.

I could also perform the mod on somebody’s Vectrex, but the cost of shipping it to me & back is probably prohibitive. I’m in the Los Angeles area, if any locals want to discuss a pause button mod deal.

Thanks,
-Jason

PS–I also have miiiiiiint CIB tested Vectrex controller listed: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111027362715

Interesting idea for the Pause button. How does it work?

That is a super mint controller, but a bit outta my price range. I don’t have any games for my Vectrex yet, unfortunately, so it’s not too worth it. One of these days I’ll order one of those multicarts…

Weird eBayers. I had the Vectrex up for 1 week w/ an opening bid of $150 & got no bites. I relisted it w/ an opening bid of $150 & a BIN of $200 & it was snatched up right away: http://www.ebay.com/itm/160992560635

The pause is achieved simply by shorting a pin on the CPU to ground with a SPST latching pushbutton switch (a rocker or toggle switch would also work, but I didn’t want to cut a rectangular hole for a rocker & would worry that a toggle might snap off). https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/rec.games.vectrex/YfsN4wp7sFg/discussion

I have 1 more controller for sale, tested good, in great condition (9 out of 10), loose, that I’ve got for sale for $70 + shipping from 91754, if you or others have interest. I have several detailed pics of it.

Thanks,

I did this years ago, but it randomly crashes the CPU. You need to de-bounce the switch I think to avoid this.

Howdy-

I’ve performed this mod twice with 2 different switches, on 2 different Vectrexes. I’ve never seen the crashes that you mention.

Perhaps I’m using switches of a quality high enough that they don’t bounce(???).

Thanks,

Put another pause-modded Vectrex on eBay, this time w/ a box & Minestorm overlay & documents:

And a controller in great condition:
