I have been asked to push back the deadline and extend the competition running time. Indeed I do have the impression that the contestants need more time for their projects. I am thinking about two more months which would extend the total runtime of the competition to half a year.

Please let me know through this poll whether the deadline should be pushed back or not and how much more time you would like it to run.

I would say yes, but be clear that this is a one time thing and after the additional two months it will really be over.

Two months sounds about right. I agree with TheForce81, as well.

Although many people get some time off from work/school at this time of year, most would probably prefer to spend it having fun with family and friends.

Agreed. Its Christmas, everyone deserves a break and a few beers and mince pies.

The time frame was bad for me from the beginning. I was able to invest a couple of weeks into my project by now and I’m sure I could put together a demo till the end of the year. However, I might be able to make it more of a game with more time.

If it gives people more time to actually make their games better… I’m all for it. Hopefully this doesn’t just mean that everyone gets two months off before crunch time again. 😉

In the (partially remembered) words of Miyamoto, a good game is only delayed for a short time. A rushed (and bad) game is rushed forever.

I think extending the time limit is a good idea.

Hah, that was exactly my plan. I just got the Wind Waker remake and need some time for that.

I’m not sure even two months will be enough time for me but it will definitely help.

Just give me some TIE figthers to shoot at and you are the man.

Let’s go for it. If this was a community of crack coders who do this kind of thing all the time I’d say leave it at January 1… But I know we have several people who aren’t accustomed to projects like this, and doing their best, so I’d say let’s give another two months to give everyone a chance to shine. (-:

And you of course are a legendary coder who pumps out professional-quality games in weeks. And our standards were of medieval quality before you came along. And we are all idiots needing hand-holding having no idea how to accomplish things. And nobody else can think of cool ideas to implement.

I know everyone is pretty busy with their projects and I wish them the best of luck 🙂 I’m all for extending the deadline…BUT

Maybe extra ‘points’ could be awarded to people that actually finished their submission on-time ?

I’m not so sure that Guy Perfect’s vanity will allow him to see the sarcasm in your statements. He’ll probably take everything that you wrote as a compliment.

The Internet really needs sarcasm tags

Nonsense. Surely you’re not all idiots… right?

I think he meant to say that your arrogance can be quite annoying. I agree with that.

It’s like the pot called the kettle black, but it went over its head and the kettle got all indignant. I love when stuff like that happens. (-:

Yeah, that’s what I meant.

Personalities clash sometimes. But we’re all hobbyists here, we’re all presumably doing this for fun. We’ve all agreed that extending the competition deadline is a good idea. Let’s make the most of it.

’tis the season of goodwill, after all. (-:

still excited to see the outcome.
how many entries are there so far ?
