some people may give red alarm a bad rap because of its wireframe graphics beine confusing( its not that bad), but dam that game is challenging as hell!i can get to the second boss before my continues start dwindling to nothing. i love it, that game keeps you on your toes and utilizes almost every button on the vb controller nicely

Keep practicing. I couldn’t beat the first levels when I first started, but with practice I got better.

tips:
The right D-pad is your friend. Don’t be afraid to use it, it’s very necessary. I use it in a very rapid fire like fashion, this allows you to kind of use it like a newer dual analog controller. Use this technique whenever there’s enemies firing at you, as you can easily dodge their bullets by quickly side-shifting out of the way. I find myself on some boss battles just rapidly hitting left or right on the right d-pad to circle around the boss while shooting him. This usually helps in avoiding the missiles while still attacking. Although note this is not what I do for the second boss, but there is definitely still a lot of side shifting involved…while reversing. That’s all I should say.

The rest, is up to you

=P

Oh, and the Virtual Boy’s 3D makes it incredibly easy to see what’s going on. If someone’s giving it a bad rap for being confusing I’d guess they’re playing it in 2D on an emulator.

there is a patch that will allow you to access the “cheats” menu rather easily, just in case, you know, you wanted to be invincible or something. =)

nahh i’m not really into cheating ;P hm but thanks for the advice! those dumb missiles are a real pain, outjuking them is the only way to really shake them haha. i agree on the 3d, the wireframe could be confusing in 2d for sure. its a great game thats for sure

Red Alarm one of best examples of what you could do with 3D on the Virtual Boy. Wireframe may look kinda primitive but better than pretending to be 3D by playing 2D Tetris with things happening in background.

And yeah, it gets hard.
