Does anyone remember these 3 games? I played them all for the 1st time on the NES. I’ve been thinking lately how they would make great VB games due to the point-and-click 1st person perspective. I think they could lend themselves well to 3D.

I have no love of coding and find it takes me awhile to solve simple coding issues, and I am not an artist. So this isn’t a thread to try to get these projects started, I just wanted to discuss these 3 games and see what all of you thought about them as VB titles.

I’ve always thought the VB would be a great platform for the “point-and-click” (aka “inventory”) adventure game genre. Not only would the stereo graphics be great, but the controls would be handy, too. You could use one d-pad to control the character and the other to control a cursor for manipulating the environment. The only thing lacking would be recorded dialog, but most games of this type don’t have speech, anyway (and besides, with a large enough ROM and some LPC compression, it could probably be done).

I agree, you just have to find a game that can be enjoyable in red and black only. I think games like Metroid for example can pull it off, but Day of the Tentacle couldn’t.

Some games really need those colours.

I like these games, especially Shadowgate, then Uninvited. Deja Vu is good also but I like the eerieness of the aforementioned. Deja Vu II is an improvement on the first one also. I kind of see Insmouse no Yakata on virtual boy as being a little bit similar to Uninvited. Maybe its just the mansion setting…

I agree… those are some really fun games, though I’m not sure how well they’d port to the VB. You really have to get into those games, and there’s a lot of tedious back and forth, which doesn’t really lend itself to sitting staring into a visor (IMO).

Also, what makes those types of games good is a good story/puzzle… so someone would really need more of those kinda skills than just simply coding skills.

I would really like to play Uninvited on my VB via my FB+, that would be the best!!
