Hello, fellow VBoy fans, I am new to this website, and had some questions about homebrew VBoy stuff. First off, has anyone made a Pokemon game for the VBoy, or started one? My other question is: Has anyone attempted to make a VBoy link cable? I mean, we have homebrew games, and homebrew games that are compatible with the link cable, so why not at least try if it hasn’t been done already?

No.

Has anyone attempted to make a VBoy link cable?

Yes.

The closest thing to Pokemon on the VB is using MK’s gameboy emulator to run Pokemon Red (or whatever).

i’ve never understood the fascination with pokemon or why everyone of that generation wants a pokemon homebrew. i’ve tried a variety of the games and found them repetitive and exhaustive.

Pokemon is indeed repetitive and overrated, but it sold incredibly well and spiked Game Boy hardware sales. Sales figures posted on NeoGAF indicate the Game Boy had its best selling year in 1998, when Pokemon Red and Blue came out, that was 9 years after Game Boy was released.

It makes sense therefore that Pokemon Red would be a consistent request for a VB game. There’s also irony there, Pokemon Red on a red game system.
