Anyone have a good source of anaglyph glasses that work with Wiirtualboy? I tried the only ones I had, which came with a 3D movie (“Journey to the Center of the Earth”), but the red side was off enough to not fully block out the cyan side. So, I’m not getting the total 3D effect, and it’s enough to cause eyestrain.

I’d love to get something cheap so I could grab a few pair, but I hate to spend the money without knowing for sure that they will work with the color scheme.

You might want to check out gbatemp.net.They have a dedicated thread regarding Wiirtualboy and I’ve seen a few posts regarding the glasses.I myself just use a pair that came with Time Traveler on DVD.I’m not sure if they still sell this or not but it was only about$10 when I got in back in 2004 or so.If you can find a copy of that cheap I would highly recommend it.Great glasses and one of the coolest arcade games ever made!

Thank you, Captain! πŸ˜‰

I found a link there where they mentioned that you could set a custom color as well. So, I think I’ll play around online with one of those CSS/hex color code sites and see what colors these glasses I have equate to.

If Time Traveler is a DVD, how can it also be an arcade game? πŸ˜•

My experimentation with hex values was basically a failure. I just could not figure out what I was trying to accomplish. *sigh*

Turns out that the green/red combo on WiirtualBoy was pretty close, with only a little green visible through the red lens. I tried playing with changing the hue on the green in the custom color setting and using pure red for the other eye. Still, red was almost perfect but I could not get the right shade of green. So, instead of getting a neutral white image it was light yellow.

I could play Wario Land like that, but 3D Tetris’ increased depth of field was garbled because of the overlap.

I’ve ordered some plain red/blue glasses from DealExtreme. We’ll see how they do!

One quick question :

will the wiirtualboy system will work on a Wii-mini ? (given that it got no SD cart connection, and only one USB connection)

And will the Gamecube Pad work on the Wii-mini (using wiirtualboy system) ?

I don’t know if Koohiisan ever worked this out, but I’ll post this, anyway…

Although I don’t own the movie, it is my understanding that it came with Magenta/Green glasses, not Red/Cyan. If this is the case, you should use #FF00FF for one eye (left?) and #00FF00 for the other eye.

@norty
: Your questions are far enough off-topic that you should really have started a new thread (possibly on an entirely different forum ;-)). I don’t own a Mini, so I can’t answer.

There’s finally a Virtual Boy emulator for Wii? About time, I’d love to try it out.

The Wii Mini has no SD card slot, no Wi-Fi support and it can’t mount storage on the USB port. As of right now, the Wii Mini is unhackable (unless someone can hack a Mii character, transfer to the Wii Mini through a Wii Remote and run homebrew code from the Mii Channel).

As for the GC controller, the Wii Mini has no GC ports and it cannot be hacked to run any homebrew software to get around that limitation, so no you can’t use GC controllers either.

Use Wii-Mednafen instead of Wiirtual Boy, it’s faster.

an odd off-topic bump of a 3 yr old thread provides a great opportunity to keep the on-topic conversation going.

my first suggestion is a cheap pair of clear glasses, something one would buy for fashion. You can usually find them at .99 type stores. then color in the lenses with a red and blue sharpie. i can’t recall if it required any special kind of sharpie or of the normal ones will work. it was a long time ago that i found out about this, so more research may be needed before this project is attempted.

comic shops usually have 3D red/blue glasses. i would go in and ask if they have anything in 3D, if they aren’t sure then dig through the back issue bin. any half way decent shop should have a “number/#” section where old 3D books will be. the shop i once worked at had a few for $1 or less.

chinese mega stores, like dealextreme, will often carry 3D glasses. you should be able to find a pair for under $3 and in most cases get free shipping.

eBay is also a great source for 3D glasses. try to buy in bulk to save on shipping or contact the seller and ask for cheaper methods. realistically, from within the US, you could ship a pair flat between two thin pieces of cardboard in a normal letter envelope with a forever stamp.

those are my suggestions, i hope they help someone now or in the future when they bump this thread in another 3 years. ;]
