I’m working on firmware for the Retrode. I’ve enabled VB SRAM save support in the firmware.

I’d like to find out if there is a common extension used for save files across the various VB emulators. I’m new to the VB scene so I don’t have any knowledge on the various emulators. I tested one emulator and it generated a .RAM save file but I don’t know if that is the extension used by other emulators.

If there is a common save file extension or if the most prevalent emulator uses a certain save file extension, then I will set the firmware to output the save file with that extension.

Thanks!

My VB emulator of choice is Mednafen because it also emulates the 3D effect by converting the images to anaglyph images (so one can use old school 3D glasses) and works quite well, imo. Anyway, it creates “.sav” files for games with save support. Not sure how these compare to other emulators since I always use Mednafen for VB. I find this project you are working on very interesting though!

Sounds like Mednafen is the current standard for VB emulators.

I’ll adopt the .SAV extension when outputting the save file using the Retrode.

Thanks for the help!
