Original Post

I have just put an ad in Market place for some Stand Medallion fix kits.
I have 5 kits for sale.
This will replace a cracked stand medallion and get your VB back on its legs.
PM me if you want and we’ll sort Paypal and address info.
Cost £7 each.
Standard post UK £1, EU £2, US £3.

If more then 5 folks want these I can get another batched machined up, maybe start a list and see how it goes for a month or so.

I have one of these. They work really good and are MUCH stronger than the original.

Looks great, you have at least one PM! 😉

I’ve got one of these..I’d I vote with MindStorm…these things are SOLID.

You have p.m.

Nice work.

PM’d!

I can highly recommend one of these!

Looking like I only have 1 off these left now.
Please let me know if anyone wants one as I will get another batch done, maybe if a list can get started I can send out a load when it reaches 10 names and do the same again, keep the list going and each 10 names I can get another batch made.

@ TheForce81 & glaros : I sent yours out on Friday, please let me know when you get em.

I just got mine in! Fits very snugly and is a lot sturdier. Thanks for making this nice kit which will help us use our VB as long as possible 🙂

SOLD OUT

Thanks to the folks who bought one.

I will be getting another batch together, so please PM me and I will keep a list and let folks know when they are done and where to pay.

As soon as I have another batch I will post to let y’all know.

Safely arrived in Canada today, looks awesome, thanks very much!

BACK ON AGAIN

Now that was quick, unknown to me the fella who made up the first batch made another last week, I mentioned I had sold most of them the other day while making a brew so he went for another batch, got 20off them this time.
I have asked about engraving them but its just not that easy, a slight discrepancy and it ends up all off set to one side.

So we still looking at £7 each but post costs in the UK went up massively last week, I went to send one to Greece and the cost had gone up 50%, so I lost out on postage on that one.
Now looking at UK £3, EU £3.50, US £4.

Let me know if you want one by PM and we’ll sort out paypal and address stuff.

Sweet… looks nice and solid! 🙂 Obviously this is what’s available, but is black plastic doable in the future? How about re-using the original self tapping screws, instead of a screw and nut (and having no hole on the front)?

Regardless, nice job! Email coming your way! 🙂

I don’t think self tapping would be such a good idea, very prone to defects. While this may not be the most beautiful solution, it is the most solid one and I for one choose that anytime over looks in these cases.

I’m not so sure about that… self tapping screws have been sucessfully used MANY MANY times… including on the original stand and rest of the VB. If they had just made the rest of the stand medallion design better, we’d be set. 😉

I’d be willing to manually tap the hole as well, but on plastic that’s just usually not necessary.

Few questions answered:

Black material: for now its still the grey, which personally I’m not worried about, its a similar grey to the carts, but yes black is possible, I will pick up a sheet with the proceeds from this new batch.

Engraving: We can now laser etch these, I have a tester and it worked, I am gonna see how in filling the text with red paint looks, but there will now be a Neartendo logo on them.

Self tap screws: I went for those originally but i found the medallion cracked. The medallion being solid meant it didn’t flex so much and had to give somewhere, cracking at the base of the screw location (I posted some photos etc about this when it happened with the red ones I made http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=3639&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0&start=0 ) so I went for thru screws. I guess longer self tap screws would be ok, they would go deeper into the material and may not crack, maybe by using the nylon washers too to allow a bit more ‘give’ when opening the legs.
The current batch has thru holes, maybe future I could just do a blind hole to allow using self tappers, but if anyone then has a problem they could be drilled thru and nuts used.

Let me know your thoughts folks and I’ll see what can be done.

Update:

Medallions now with a choice of etched with Neartendo logo or plain, see pictures.
Price is the same for either of them (£7) as the etching was a trial that worked out ok, I have 9off these etched.
I do also have the plain type.

PM me if interested and we’ll sort paypal and address info.

Very Nice HT:D tell me is your clamp solution working on the original stand as well? If not will you be making a clamp that works on the original stand?

Thanks morintari. The etching is ok, not the best hence i thought offer as an option.

I have no intention on doing anything to the original stand clamp mechanism, my clamping unit design for the adjustable stand won’t fit to it and as it works already best to leave as is.

Would you consider creating a stand clamp for those of us that have broken ours. Or in my case inherited a broken one:(.
