Being the collector that I am, I like to collect doubles of particular items. This is something that I do with multiple things I collect for, not just the Virtual Boy.

That being said-

I recently purchased a second red Virtual Boy vest. When it arrived in the mail I did what I do with any double I receive, and thats to compare it with the one I already have, and what I found is pretty interesting.

When I placed the two vests side-by-side ( virtual Boy side up ) the very first thing I noticed was that my new vest was alot smaller than the vest that I’ve owned for years. I then flipped them over to check out the sizes on the care tags, and to my suprise both of them said “L” for large. They both have the same care tag, only difference is some sort of red dye splashed on the care tag of my new vest.

Another interesting thing that sticks out are the Bugle Boy tags. The vest I’ve owned for years has the standard Bugle Boy tag seen on pretty much all of the red Virtual Boy vests, but my new vest has a completely different Bugle Boy tag. Both of them sport the same sized Virtual Boy embroidered on the back of them. The VB on the small vest looks bigger than the other due to the size of the vest (pretty cool!)

My conclusion on this vest:

Because the care tags on both the vests read “L” for large but are completely different sizes, makes me believe that I found a “Womens” size “L” VB vest and the other would be a “Mens” size “L” VB vest.

I’ve messaged the seller of the vest to ask of its origins but SHE hasn’t messaged me back yet ( I’ll keep you posted ).

What do you guys think?

Also, did you know that these existed? ( lots of pictures )

Nice find. I would say your right about it being a men’s size L and a women’s size L.
Is that some small text under the fish tail or part of the design?
