Hey everyone,

I talked about this on the Discord already. I’ve been thinking about live-streaming some VB development sessions. Some people on Discord showed interest so I thought I might give this a try. I’ve got some interesting topics ahead. Some stuff I can think of right now:

– 2D to 3D image conversion… again
– gif conversion
– music conversion
– link cable
– vuengine
– gregs wirefram lib
– some rom hacks that need to be done
– general game development
– ……. Snatcher …
– whatever you guys want really

So there is lots of stuff to be done. I’m mainly pushing this idea as I’m looking for something that motivates me to tackle these projects on a regular basis. So this might be a win win. Also, it’s always good to have someone to talk to while programming. I might also be able to give you some tips if you are planning to become a software developer as I’ve got plenty of experience.

For me this is an experiment just to see if it is something I like doing and that others like watching. As I don’t want to talk to group a twitch bots it would ask you to post when you are interested. Also the day of the week and time (including timezone) that would fit for you would be cool… I guess I’m German after all.

It would be really cool to get some insight on how all that stuff goes down. I’ve never used twitch, but I’d figure out how to watch something like that. I think it’s a good idea.

I’d totally watch when I could! 😀

Normally I tune in to twitch a bit after work while I eat. So for me, it would be around 7pm – 9pm PST.
Not sure what time that is in Germany.

@speedyink
: You don’t need an account to watch on twitch. Just the link. 🙂

You know I’m in but please if it’s on the weekends please on Sunday not Saturday for religious reasons. Can’t wait to see you on Twitch! Let us know the time and the link and I’ll be there. Oh and I’m on eastern standard time in the states.Any time from 9 am to 10 pm is good for me and on Sunday only please for weekends thanks.

Cool idea, I’d love to tune in! I won’t be able to watch before about 9 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as every second weekend (starting with the next one). If you made these sessions available as recordings for those of us who weren’t able to watch live, that’d be awesome.

This would be a lot of fun to watch in my opinion. I’m already following you on Twitch so I’ll happily tune in when you’re streaming next.

I’d definitely tune in!

Ready to watch!

As I said on Discord I would watch this!

Ok, lets try this.

I will start on Sunday 8pm German time.
That should be 11am pst and 1pm est.

I might have technical problems and stuff, we will see. Lets consider this a trial run.

I will use my existing twitch account for now:
https://www.twitch.tv/gamesandsoftdrinks

First topic will be the 2D to 3D converter. If this turns out I will also try to figure out a fixed schedule and post announcements before each stream. I might also setup a poll for future topics.

So glad your doing this ThunderStruck! and so glad that it’s on Sunday! Thanks can’t wait to tune in!

I enjoyed ThunderStruck’s show it was very good. It was on 2d to 3d conversion, it was very informative. I’m looking forward to the rest of the clan that said they would be there. The chat had a nice conversation going as well. Also I’m also looking forward to the next show!

Just to clarify for those who weren’t there: It wasn’t as much about 2D-to-3D conversion as it was about the development of thunderstruck’s 2D-to-3D converter (in C#).

It was informative, though… for those who want to know how a modern Windows app is written (using MS tools).

Thanks for the clarification.

I think it was a good first try even though I was very tired. I’m not sure when I can do this again. Saturday might be a good day as I will be out of the country from Monday on. I will return on the Sunday after so I might skip a week. The idea is to do this on a regular basis with a fixed schedule though.

I will also try to give a better overview of what’s already there and focus a bit more on the VB side of things.

I also asked a coworker if he would join in remotely so we could do pair-programming (which is a way more effective way to write code). So I might do that as well.

Is there a record of the stream anywhere?

-Eric

Yeah does Twitch archive videos for a bit? I work Sundays so I wasn’t able to watch.

I’m such a noob with these new platforms…

thunderstruck – Could you archive the sessions so that those of us who cannot make it live can watch?

Go to your Dashboard (e.g. https://www.twitch.tv/broadcast/dashboard/settings)

And enable “Store past broadcasts”. This will keep the broadcast on the site for 14 days (60 days for Partners, Turbo and Prime users).

I actually wanted to record the stream and upload it to youtube later. There are two reasons why I didn’t activate the “auto archive” feature of twitch.

1. I wanted to encourage people to join the live stream as I want to have a conversation but also because I would like to become a twitch affiliate. That would allow me to use some of the more advanced options of twitch and also receive money through twitch. There is still some software (like Photoshop, DevExpress and so on) I would like to buy and I need a better chair. Usually I would just spent my own money but I will move towards the end of the year so I try to save some money.

2. I’m a bit scared of giving away personal information or simply saying something incredible stupid. So I would like to have the option to cut out certain parts.

Hey everyone,

I would like to do another stream this weekend but I’m having trouble finding a good time. One of the problems being that there are 6 to 9 hours time difference. I also have to get up rather early on Monday to catch a flight.

So whats better?
1: 7 am German time (Sunday), which is 10 pm PST (Saturday) and 1 am est (Sunday)
2: 3 pm German time (Sunday), which is 6 am PST (Sunday) and 9 am est (Sunday)
3: Everyone moves to Germany, Bigmak pays

Option 3, naturally :p

Serious answer: option 1 works best for me.
