Original Post

I have had my VB games in loose form and in a stack for a while and want to try and do the Nintendo DS case route I have seen done online.

I saw some posts about RED cases for the DS but cannot find them anywhere. Does anyone know where to get them? Otherwise the cheapest option I found was plain black on Amazon for $15 for 10 of them.

Also I went to the cover art project and was only able to find 8 of the game case artwork scans so I am looking to see if anyone has any of these at the right size they can link me to or post in a comment!

Looking for:
Panic Bomber
3D Tetris
Jack Bros.
Red Alarm
Vertical Force
V-Tetris
Flashboy Plus

I know I shared this with you on FB already, but here it is for everyone else. Essentially have every Virtual Boy DS cover here minus Flashboy Plus

Yep that was me! I wrote this on here before I posted on the FB group. You were a MAJOR help man! I actually printed all the ones i needed at work today on the “nice” laserjet and ordered a 25 pack of cheapo DS cases on Amazon to make them. I know I didn’t need 25 but the prices on them were cheap enough.

I actually was able to find one out there for the Flashboy Plus as well!

If you can provide me a copy of the Flashboy one, I’ll happily add it to the Google Doc so others can get it if they stumble across this.

Glad I was able to help you out! Took me quite a while digging through multiple resources to find all of them.

Sure thing here it is! I found one of them online with the Japanese lettering on the side panel and didn’t understand why since it was not a Japanese import game so I copied over the regular spine upper corner piece so it matches the others.

You know, in all honesty someone should sticky the link to those since there are various versions around the internet and some are missing certain games but to be the easiest way to find them ALL through a google search this should be stickied somewhere for people searching for the future!

I completely agree!

Thank you for the Flash Boy art!

I know this is a bit of an older post, but thank you for that DS case art. I went ahead and carved up this one spare red DS case I had a bit ago and got some thin foam board and ghetto made a case for my flash boy plus with it. The cutting job isn’t pretty on any of it, but it printed out alright enough and what’s important is the thing is protected.

Thanks.

Glad to have helped. It was a bit of a pain in the ass trying to find them all originally so I’m happy to make sure others avoid that.

No doubt.

I’m in an interesting strange valley just being back into the VB. The Flashboy I felt needed the encasement to protect it given the investment into that.

But I have been thinking despite having boxes, currently more boxes than games I even have in my possession due to a lucky break I don’t want to really ruin the things.

I’m considering perhaps going the route of finding a set of red cases pre-made since I can’t do it well on my own having done it now and shelving the games as I would with 3DS titles not in use. VB is an odd duck with those little pins and tiny holes, really not optimal or probably possible to accurately clean them like a typical row of pins on a Nintendo cart from any decade.

Making the cases wasn’t all too hard. Granted the red ones are not possible to find currently, but black ones look great still on the shelf. You can take an exacto knife and cut out the holders on the inside and then I bought thin foam sheets at Target and made a stencil and cut them to fit and then put a piece of solid foam at the back to cover the holes inside so you can;t see through to the holes in the plastic at the back.

In all honesty if just putting them up on a shelf they dont need to be super fancy or expensive. They hold the games just fine for me!

Here is what the end product looked like and and I have some with different colored foam inside as the pack I bought at Target was in rainbow colors. But again these are sitting on a shelf and no one can see the inside but me so I could care less if some of them are purple or pink instead of red on the inside.

Well I don’t have a good hand at cutting foam or a pro tool to stencil and clean slice the thing. Mine is rough, hacked away at looking in spots and I didn’t dare make that thumb half circle up top but it fits snuggly enough. I had a spare red case so I just used a leatherman blade to slice fairly smoothly the DS clip out, and that hides well under the cover art I printed which comes off faded since I didn’t use high quality paper or print settings either.

I figured when the time was right I’d just get someone else to do it as I lack the proper supplies.

What you did there looks great and I just used the red as I had it, either would be fine.

I’ve attached a quick pic of the usable creation in all its ugliness.

That is awesome that you had a red case. I wished I could find them but it wasn’t possible. But still black is fine for me. As for the cutting, I used scissors and that’s how I was able to get it to look so smooth. I bent the foam and made a slit in the middle then cut to the edge and then followed the stencil I drew on the foam in pen. Made a little slit at the top for using your finger to pull the game out too.

I have a small xacto knife and I had used the FB itself with a light pencil as a stencil then went about just slowly cutting along but the material kept snagging. I had initially pierced it using the same blade as the case cutting as it’s a very very thin point to it. Either way, it’s ugly and useable so it’ll be fine for now and I could just leave it depending.

I’ve got 3 games now, another 3 in the mail shortly, but before them I’ve got 6 boxes+manuals arriving Saturday to games I mostly have yet to get and one is a double of a box (Mario Clash.) I won’t be storing them in there, bad idea due to the age, so that’s why these cases are appealing.

Hey Levine91 do you happen to have an English translated version of the Innsmouth mansion cover? All I could find is the Japanese cover on your link and nowhere else online for one!

I need to rehash this one. Does anyone have an English translated Innsmouth cover? The Japanese one is the one one I could find.

Unfortunately I don’t have it. I’m not sure it was ever made (and shared). If anyone has the ability to make this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely sad to hear. That’s one of the better Japanese games that needs a good cover. Ah well!

Here ya go~
You should be able to just overlay this on your template you had. 🙂

Sweet that works for the cover portion if using a template. I was just downloading the premade inserts, seems most of the Japanese ones have a translation but Innsmouth doesn’t. This is the one in that folder so the front, sides, and back all need a redo.
