I just watched Ben Heck’s part 2 Virtual Boy video and I was wondering, would there be a possible way to mod the Virtual Boy and magnify the screen so it seems bigger?

Just putting magnifying lenses between your eyes and the mirrors should do the trick, if you get the right lenses and mount them in the right positions.

Alright, I think I may try that, thanks.

That’s a very interesting idea! I hope you can find some lenses which work well, clonecman, since I’d really love a bigger image. 🙂

For the sake of simplicity, I hope lenses can be mounted inside the red eye pieces.

A good place to start would be the cheap lenses made for the “cardboard VR” sets that are all over eBay. Or, if you’re blessed with a Rift devkit, you could try the lenses that come with it (I understand it comes with some of various diopters).

Rift lenses are not going to work very well, as they introduce a significant amount of distortion to the magnified image. You would probably need a dual lens setup, with an additional lens to counteract the distortion, sort of like dual fresnels. Not sure if such a setup could be done at the DIY level and still fit inside the VB. Source: I have a Rift DK1, DK2, and CV1. 😉

Might be worth investigating Cardboard though. I’m not as familiar with those, but as RunnerPack points out, they sure are cheap. 🙂
