Two additional difficulty modes, “Special” and “Extra” can be unlocked by attaining a score of more than 200,000 points on the 3-D Tetris Type A or Clear It! Hard modes. Upon clearing the 200k point hurdle, you get a banner at the top of the play field that says “Great!”. When your game is eventually over, you are treated to a credits scene with character sprites, many of which unused in any other game mode. Finally, another screen comes up that says “Special Command Select L Select L” (Type A) or “Special Command Select B Select B” (Clear It!).
Upon entering one of the button codes

on the main menu, a little jingle plays in the background. Now, when you select 3D Tetris Type A or Clear It! again, the two additional difficulty options appear below “Hard”. Once unlocked, those two modes display high scores within the High Score tab on the main menu.
Note that the code to unlock those modes only works on save files that already have a 200,000+ high score on the respective game mode.
