Hamano was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1969. After graduating college, she officially joined Nintendo in 1991, initially working as a Sound Composer for the Entertainment Analysis & Development Division.

Her initial prize work was composing the soundtrack for The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

Hamano’s first composition for the company was The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Hamano also contributed to a variety of titles including Donkey Kong Country Returns, Brain Age, and Wario World. Hamano’s signature series is none other than the fan favorite Metroid franchise, with several compositions throughout Metroid Prime 3, Metroid Fusion, Metroid: Zero Mission, and Super Metroid. Her favorite film is Le Grand Bleu, and she is also a fan of chocolate cake.
