were can I find those competitions?
Look for the two “PVB Coding Competition” forums at the bottom of the forum overview page. A site search will also lead you to some news posts which list all entries with screenshots.
Welcome to PVB, Josh! Indeed, due to being Nintendo property, the access to the official programming documents is restricted to long time users. You got a PM, though. 😉
Good luck with your project! I am looking forward to seeing it shape up. 🙂
That’s good news! 🙂
I’ll look into the buttons. Did you click the options buttons or only hover over them?
Next round! The chat is now located in the redesigned userbar. Does the site scroll faster for you now?
Iff whe all do a litle donation whe will pay it with all the users off vr32.de
Thanks, mawa! This is not necessary, though.
I have deactivated the live chat for now to rework the theme and place the chat in the userbar. It will be back up for another test run in a few days.
I got to talk to HorvatM and TheForce81 and the chat worked pretty well, I must say it was a very comfortable experience being able to communicate with fellow users in such a direct way.
I tested the chat on several computers, OSes and browsers. Slow ones, fast ones, Windows, Linux, Firefox, Chrome, Internet Exploder. It was a smooth experience on all configurations.
But since many of you seem to have problems with choppy scrolling, I’ll try to find a better solution.
I bet that loading times can be improved by merging and trimming down the required JavaScript and CSS files.
As for the scrolling problems, I think you guys made a good suggestion with placing the chat button in the user bar on top. The problem is that it does not allow free placement on the site, plus it can become pretty wide when several chats are open to the left of it.
What I could do: make the userbar use the full screen width, move the “PMs” and other buttons to the left and replace them with small icon-only versions. Then the live chat could use up all the space on the right.
In addition, I will set up an option to completely disable the live chat.
I am also thinking of updating our license to premium. This would cost an additional $80, but would allow us to use the lite version of the chat, which does not include all the unnecessary stuff I disabled anyway and is said to be 10 times faster. It would also be branding free.
Have you searched this site or Google for “Planet 3DS” yet? It might be your lucky day. 😀
No idea what you have been doing, but all the links work and the font is available for download in TFF format:

Welcome!
For the Font: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=3812
I think it would be worth a try to use more cycles than that to receive a much smoother animation.

From the picture I saw it looked like it was all red. Is it?

Just found this, a blast from the past! http://www.coxhomestead.com/slight/compendium/
That would be interesting. The only Game.com site I know about is http://gamecom.guruwork.de, by the same people who are behind Team Pokeme, who also hacked the Nintendo Pokemon Mini.
Amos, thanks for pointing that out! The textarea editor was selected for me too. I didn’t notice before, though, since I mostly use the quick reply form. I set it to DHTML now and it seems to remember my choice.
I think you’re right about the recent problems being the reason for this. For unknown reasons, some settings got deleted, like all role assignments (to the registered users group.)
Did anybody notice anything else? Reset notification options or something like that?

Lol! Funny image in my head. 🙂
Great work, Chris! It definitely reminds of Bound High, but sounds more like a (well made) remix.
Here’s some more overpriced printed VB matter for you, jzagal. 😉

Talking about overpriced, here’s the obligatory $500 Jack Bros:
Sorry for the heart-stopping moments, Hedgetrimmer! 😉
Last week was a bit stressful with the site being up and down for 3 or 4 days in a row, but now everything seems to run smooth again.
I think it all was caused because I was forcing a fallback to PHP4 via .htaccess for compatability reasons. But it was actually only a few small fixes to get the site running on PHP5 and since I did this, there have been no more problem until now. Yay!
@gyf: Thanks for reporting! This keeps happening from time to time for unknown reasons, but I have a recount script for posts so everything was back to normal quickly after your post. 🙂
After another night offline and a few phone calls, it turned out that we keep exceeding our process limit for a currently unknown reason. I will try to find out why this keeps happening. Let’s hope the site won’t be offline again tonight.
Another Famitsu issue (95.2.24) on Yahoo Japan Auctions, containing at least 6 pages of VB coverage:

@mawa: BTW, did you receive the Famitsu issue you scored? Please PM me! 🙂
