@TRM: Wow, thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words. I’m really happy you enjoy them and I hope others will too. There is of course the possibility to replace them with other labels so that is nice. But for those who can’t be bothered, I think it’s cool that there is at least something.

For me, I think some of the ones I’m most pleased with are: Hyper Fighting, Wario Land and SD Gundam D.W. Those were some of the more challenging ones.

I felt the pressure on Hyper Fighting, haha, but i’m quite happy with how it turned out. When I was looking for inspiration and I found that particular cover art, I knew I had to go for it.

I agree about the V.B. Wario Land label and that the feedback I got definitely improved it. Good stuff!

Funny about the Waterworld label. Before that one I was actually planing on going for a more simplistic look for all the labels, but after I did Waterworld I realized it would be more fun to treat, at least some of them, like mini paintings, but still represent the games in an honest way–even though I took some liberties with some of them. Hopefully they all feel somewhat consistent.

Again, thanks for the detailed feedback on the individual labels, I really enjoyed reading it 🙂

Ok, I’m done for now. All the labels for the original released games plus Hyper Fighting and the default/programming are finished, as well as their corresponding icons.

Haha yeah, maybe I came off a bit too harsh 🙂
I will have to try it at some point.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I think it’s awesome that the game exists, not trying to offend any Virtual Lab fan 😉

@Cosmoliner: Thanks!

Here’s the Virtual Lab label. Man, I haven’t tried that game and I probably never will, looks like a total piece of shit game. As I understand it, most likely not finished.

Anyway, went with the box art as inspiration for the label but skipped the human characters.

EDIT: Not sure why the images of my latest two posts aren’t showing up as normal.

Haha, that is sick! Pretty bizarre 😀

Here’s the latest one: Jack Bros.

Some more labels done. Not many left now of the original set. All the icons are done too (see post #2).

That’s awesome man, appreciate the hard work!

@The Red Menace: Haha, yeah. Lucky there are two bowling games then 😉

Some new labels done: Wario Land and Galactic Pinball. I’ve done more icons too (see post #2).

Here are the latest: Virtual Bowling and 3-D Tetris. I’ve tweaked some of the others too (can be see in the overview post, page 1).

@The Red Menace: Thanks man!

Here’s the latest one, Virtual League Baseball.

@KR155E: Thanks man! I appreciate it. The idea was initially to keep them quite minimal, haha, but as I do more and get better at pixel art I try to challenge myself. These last ones have been a bit more complicated than the first ones for sure, but I think they are all still pretty coherent. I let the game in question tell me what labels it wants 😉

I think that some of the coming ones will be a bit simpler in design, the variation is nice. It depends on the game too of course.

@boye: I don’t think it’s possible to animate the logo, but it’s a cool idea.

Here are the latest two. Gundam and Hyper Fighting.

Here’s Golf and Innsmouth No Yakata on the screen.

Here’s the Mario Clash label on the e-ink screen. Some updates on the programming and default labels too (see post #2).

Here’s an update on the programming and default label after some feedback from the community.

Here’s the default label (and the programming label).

The idea was to show Kevins logo, give some information and make it fun, while keeping it clean and readable. The text is placeholder and just example text.

I was inspired by the small badges KR155E did for his labels, which I think are awesome, so I thought I’d make my own version of those but for the HyperFlash32.

Thanks for the updates! I see some stuff I need to continue working on that aren’t quite there yet.

I wish I could take credit for the plane reflection but it’s actually in the original box art design 🙂 And yes, that’s the “dry land” symbol as seen here: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114898/mediaviewer/rm2810972160

Here’s the label for Red Alarm. As you can see it’s heavily based on the Japanese box cover art which I think is very cool.

I also tried yet another thing with the pattern on the grey plate. I actually like this and think it’s less cluttered than before, while still breaking up the plain grey surface.

I’ve attached a 200% .png too to give you a better idea of how it will look on the e-ink screen.

EDIT: I did some tweaks.

@Kevin: Thanks man. I have done some tweaks based on those photos. Whenever you have time, could you please check the following four that I have attached? I have done adjustments to all of them.

Some comments:

Panic bomber: I worked on the helmet and also made him look up, which I think is more fun.
Space Invaders: I adjusted the value of the front facing plane. I think that will look more harmonious.
Teleroboxer: Some work done on the cracks and I removed them from going on top of the HYPERFLASH32 text, looks cleaner and makes more “sense”, I think.
Waterworld: Tweaks here and there, smoother dithering.
Bottom part of the label: Made the pattern look less jagged.

I’m currently working on a Red Alarm label and am also looking in to a default one.
